Vegas Slot - Finally Getting Fun!

Well, it's the same IGT after all that makes Spin Luck and Dragon Dice so you would expect them to start having some fun Americanized slots. My wife fell in love with the "Double Triple Diamond Deluxe with Cheese" slot while in Vegas.

Much like other slots in Vegas, they can be loads of fun if you're winning. Well she sat at this machine for four hours and we missed a magic act we had tickets for because she was having so much fun.

The premise was fairly simple. You have your basic three reels and if you land on a bonus symbol, "a waitress with a burger" you get to spin or in this case roll the dice. Whatever light is lit under the dice symbol between one and six, you move that many places and if you hit a number, that much bonus is added, if you hit a question mark, you press again to determine if you continue or get paid out. If you continue you roll the dice again and move again. Now if you hit the french fry symbol twice before you get cashed out, you move to the next level. The number are larger and you're trying to reach the top for the 5000 payout. Well she made it to the level before the top a couple of times but couldn't make it all the way. She finally quit on 2000. The lights and sounds of this are rather goofy in nature but it's a spoof of a hamburger joint of the fiftes, so it's what you would expect.





All in all a lot of fun to be had with this one. I wouldn't mind having this one in my house.

It was a quarter machine so she won $500 at the point she stopped. The lady that was waiting at the machine for us to quit didn't have the same luck apparently my wife had, so it looks like we got off the machine at the right time. I had been sitting just a couple of slot rows away from her with similar luck on an older Double Diamond Deluxe with the nudge feature. I stopped after about 3 hours of playing to watch her and I won $200 when I stopped. It was also a quarter machine.

Funny story here. We were staying at Caesars and across the street was the Barbary Coast. Some guy was standing out in front handing out 2 for 1 drink coupons. He stuck on in my wifes hands. He also has asked her if we like to go to a top show for practically nothing was appealing to her. She said yes and motioned for me to follow her and into the casino we went. We spoke to a very nice lady who told us if we went to visit this timeshare place we'd get a free two night stay at their hotel and tickets to the show of our choice...

Well I tried to explain to the wife what a timeshare tour consisted of, having done this some 25 years ago for a extremely cheap steak knife set. It was only for two hours she said and we get this and that. I chuckled for a second or two and said, "well I guess you just have to experience it for yourself". So we went...

It was a nice place on the south edge of the strip. They feed us ( a free lunch as it were) and they started off trying to sell it to us for $24,000, we turned it down and in came the other lady who dropped it to $19,000, how could we turn down a deal like this after all we're going to save so much money by buying into this? I guess I just don't like to save the money so I turned it down again.

It's beginning to get a little pushy and I told the wife, here it comes...

So they drove us back to the place (a strip center) where they first took us from the hotel. They drove us in a car without air conditioning! On the way back, she thought it was over but wait, I have another manager who just needs to sign this sheet so you can get your tickets. Right! We sat and here the bigger push.

We'll give you one week every year, an additional week only every other year and we can let you have this for only $9900. Wow over half off already!

We have a gazillion resorts that you can trade with someone to take your vacations on and they are all the same 5 star rating as this location, or better! So what do you have in Oklahoma I asked. A houseboat on lake Eufaula and there was a picture. A converted party barge! bwahaha Yep, that's what I call a 5 star barge!

Well, now the new guy pressuring us, went away for a few minutes to let us talk about the $9900. Now my wife, GOD love her, is beginning to buy into this. So the guy comes back 5 minutes later and says, what do you think. I told him that (to try and avoid this discussion any further) that I have the same problem with it I had to start with, I know they're offering us a FABULOUSLY FANTASTIC DEAL but I am not about to commit to a monthly payment on an impulse, I'd have to go home and study it first, talk to other who have owned a time share and see what they think.

Well, there went the price again, now we're down to $4,950. We're only going to get our 2nd week every third year but hey, they have to say we're losing something for such a reduction in price. Then the same line as to how could we even think of letting a deal like this one pass?

I stayed with the party line and really let them have no other options but to let us leave. It was now 3 hours into this journey and I was beginning to lose my sense of humor about the whole thing. They were at least intuitive enough to pick up on this. They signed our sheet, gave us our tickets to the Danny Gans show that evening in the nose bleed seats and drove us back to our hotel with the other pigeons that took part in this charade.

This takes us to the point of this whole story. The Danny Gans show is at the Monte Carlo hotel. We had to go about an hour early to get the tickets registered and then we sat down at a couple of machines and began to play a little to kill some time and capture a few free drinks before the show.

This is when we began to win. When it was time to stop playing and go to the show, she turned to me and said she wanted to continue playing. So we blew the show off as the guy at the ticket joint wouldn't let us change them to the later show that evening.

The whole point of going through that 3 hour ordeal was to get the free tickets. By not going to the show, we had wasted 3 hours of our vacation on this crap for nothing. My wife did point out to me in her special logic that had we not gone though all this we would have never been at the Monte Carlo to begin to win anyway. So it was still worth it! In a weird way, she's right.

(I told her before we went to this farce, that if they push her to hard, just say “my husband has my full power of attorney for me, my signature means nothing”.
They put us back together, and gave up when I unzipped my pants and started scratching Big Ed & the twins, “damn they itch bad”.
If that would not have worked, I was going to do the farmer nose blow. Finger close one side and blow the other toward the ground, or in this case the carpet.)

I think this is one of those adventures that everyone needs to experence. We only had to endure 1 1/2 hours to get 2 tickets to seaworld. And like Tulsa's story it got pretty cheap in the end. But the one thing you can never get past on the deals is the maintinance fee, which is variable.

I learned my lesson when I went for my honeymoon. But not before I fell for it! Lucky you have a certain amount of time to can sell after the fact! Got out of that bad deal. It did teach me a good lesson though! If it wasn't for my smart boss I my not have known I had rights to cancel such contracts in a given time.

I hear that you can buy timeshares cheap (even on ebay) - people just looking to get out from the burden of the maint fees. I bought my secetarys Flordia timeshare for the cost of her maint and took the kids to disney world two years ago. I proably would have spent the same or a bit less staying at one of the Disney hotels but I had my dad in tow and this got us a second bedroom.... but its no deal.

I remember one of these sessions. I was thirteen years old, it was for a hunting lodge type of place, and the goodies were a couple sleeping bags and a nice propane stove. Now back in the late 70s that was good stuff.
Well, dad wanted the goodies, so mom and dad take me and my sister with them to this thing.
On the way up there we were schooled in obnoxious child behavior and that we were to employ it when we got back to the office and they started talking to the adults about buying stuff. Now how many kids are asked to misbehave by their parents? Man did we have fun, mom and dad got out early with the goodies and we got rewarded for being bad.
Ahhhh the good ole days.

I bought a nice timeshare off ebay 2br 2bth in Gatlinburg Tn for less than 1000.00 and that included closing. We have enjoyed it two years now. I would like to know more about going to aruba...
