Talking New Pachislo Owner - thank you already and some quick questions ...

Just wanted to say a quick hello and thanks to everyone here.

I've been working on arcade machines for a bit and have been active on KLOV, but came across a Speed Racer Pachislo that was listed as "powers up but not working". I've been on the hunt for a SF2 for a while but liked the look and figured I'd take a chance. No keys to reset or front door.

A couple searches on these forums once I got it home, and I got the front door open, followed some reset procedures (used alligator clips on the reset terminals inside the PSU as I'm not sure if I'll just source a key or do a switch replace), stuck a coin in between the door sensor and what do ya know - she's working!

I'm already starting to think this won't be my last machine.

My only outstanding questions right now are as follows:

    1) machine has a grey two pronged power cord. Is there a procedure to wire in a 3-prong (grounded) cord and a spot to connect earth ground? It's typically the first thing I do on my arcade machines out of safety but not sure if there's an earth ground location on these machines.

    2) The first reel is a smidge wobbly. Video here -- https://imgur.com/a/4w1Xfv1 -- Is there a good way to straighten the reel out? I can't seem to find a good procedure for it.

3). Confirming the speed racer (I guess it's the V1 with the small LCD display) is 3 tokens only?

    Thanks so much!

I've owned over 30 machines and none have ever had a 3 prong plug. Most machines require a 24V transformer and the transformer normally has only 4 wires. 2 for the 110V coming IN and 2 going OUT 24V to the power supply.

I would guess if you want to ground it, you would connect the incoming ground to the metal bracket of the transformer and then to metal frame of the door and reel cage. On my Speed Racer there is a ground wire connecting the door frame and reel cage housing. (picture below).

As far as the "wobbly reel", that is fairly common for an older machine. I have several machines that are the same way and really never gave it much thought. I would think it would be rather difficult to correct.

Awesome - thanks so much for the info. The reel gets really close to the door opening sometimes (i haven't adjusted the hinges yet) so i'm not sure if it was getting bumped while being opened previously. If i wasn't paying attn it's not noticeable, but while i go through it for a deep clean didn't know if there was an easy adj.
