    Default New Cabinet build

Decided I needed to get the collection into cabinets. I modified the design posted here by ken254 to convert it to floor standing and add a space beneath the hopper for a Battle Counter. When I use them on my vintage machines, I'll just put a blank panel in.

Still some work to do. Haven't built on the tray for the waste balls yet and still need to warp some plywood for the hopper and a waste ball ramp system. Since this is a vintage machine, it will get the filler panel below the hopper after I fit the hopper gate and drop tube. On modern cabinets, I'll use a deeper machine shelf so it sticks out the front of the cabinet to provide a place for the winnings tray. The very bottom will get boxed in like the hopper with corner 2x2 braces to take a T-nut and leg levelers. Also, on the moderns, I'll need to figure out what to do with the smart card readers. Since I'm going to gang 2 of these together for stability while open, maybe I can just make some sort of thin interconnecting box to house the readers and serve as a tie point for the 2 cabinets. Maybe they'll fit in with the battle counters. I'll have to see...

One more day of assembly then time for paint.

you could create a small box under each machine for the card reader..

looking forward to seeing a finished product..

Here's a quick shot of the cabinets so far. You can't really tell in the photo but there is a third cabinet behind Gaga. I'm going to join the 2 rows of cabinets back-to-back with a brace across the top side edges. This provides the needed wide footprint and counterbalancing needed when doors are opened. The ball return trays on the modern machines are a bit low, but it's workable. On cabinet 4, I'm probably going to shift to smaller diameter hopper feed tube from the top hopper, as balls are bouncing out of the machine top tray due to the weight of the ball stack in the 1.25" tube. I'll probably try sizing down to a PVC tube just slightly larger than a ball and see how that works. For now I am controlling it by partially closing the shutoff plate, as Ken used in his design.
