Default Circuit Racer How Much Power

Hey guys! I just acquired my new Circuit Racer Machine! How much power does it need to operate? I really want to see if it works!!

24ac for the main control...10 or 12 for the lights.

So I was thinking it was 24v total. 12 going to solenoids and 12 to lights? This machine does not need a transformer, am I right? I know it could have one, but it doesn’t need one?

I’m hoping I can find a wall plugin thing at good Will that will do the trick.

Needs 24ac for the tire control and solenoid. I like to use a 24 vac center tap transformer. 3 Amp That provides the needed 24 and the center tap 12 for the lights. Be sure to fuse both supplies.

So how the heck do I hook that transformer up if I only have one fuse? I’m going to need some help getting this thing going. I can see that now haha

So like the plug from an old landline house phone...let’s say it’s 24v output. I snip it off the phone and run the wires into the white and yellow screw down pins on the machine.....That won’t power this machine?

This is my machine! One fuse, and the cord is soldered into the fuse box and runs over to the tire solenoids.

Also here are some pictures of the electronics in the back. Hopefully everything works. It looks like the guts are all there.

Also, here’s to hoping that those diodes are just a little corroded and not cooked....

Moparformances you seem to know quite a bit about this model.

Looks like some changes have been made. Can we get a look at the back of the fuse block?
The heavy white cord is normally seperate and not attached to the fuse block. Maybe the lights have been changed to 24 volt and a single power supply used.

Here is a pic of the norm, lamp cord with inline fuse for the 24 vac, 12 volt connects to the fuse block thumb screws.20191018_071408~2.jpg

I’m at work now, but I can take pictures of the back of the fuse block when I get home.

I looked at it last night. Did not take a picture. The white wire is soldered onto a prong, which is bolted down to make contact so that it receives current from one of the two wire screws (yellow and white screws). The lights seemed like older lights to me. I’ll take pics of those too.

Do you think that the diodes are good? The blackening on them worried me....

Diodes look ok, often when blown they will crack or split.

You could check the bulbs with a 9 volt battery. If bright you will blow them with the 24 supply.

The bulbs actually aren’t bright at all. Very underwhelming light at 12 volts. They aren’t your standard bulb from these 70’s Nishijin machines either. They are longer and skinnier. Not led though. I used a power adapter rated for 12 volts on the lights, and they were very dim when I touched the contacts on the leaf switches together.

However the center feature of the machine didn’t seem to do much of anything while plugged in. Doesn’t sound like it would with only 12v though.

Does this maybe mean everything is on that same power supply and fuse?

I’m going to try and find a wall adapter at good Will on my lunch break rated for 24v

It’s like the modification has morphed two electrical systems into one.
