Default Help with a 1969 maruhon

    Hi guys,

I need help getting this ball feed lever to feed consistently. It is very finicky. The arm wont go back all the way to the shooter arm spring. So far I polished the brass pin, all metal parts including the top of the spring, i tried slight bends on the ball stop arm. I adjusted the counter weight on top, all balls and the plastic feeder seesaw are clean. It just keeps getting hung up like the weight of the next ball is stopping it.
Im used to nishin a's and b's and sankyo and sanyos. This maruhon is weird. Also no low ball stop or electronics at all.

I will post pictures when I figure out how to.
    Thanks

That is an odd little mechanism.

It looks like the ball comes off the white arm, hits one arm.. and I can't tell what it does from there.

Does the arm further away from the shooter connect to anything on the rear of the machine?

Personally, if that mechanism doesn't connect to anything else, I'd be tempted to remove it just to remove the issue it's causing.

Ok, So the white ramp is like a standard ball queue. The weight of next ball dropping in seesaws and allows the next etc. Nothing at all attaches to the shooter arm in the back like all pachinkos I have seen. There are not any holes in the plywood at all behind this assembly. This is one metal piece attached with a brass pin. The rear metal is supposed to allow the current ball to go all the way back when you depress the shooter arm and the front metal blocks the queue ball. After the ball is shot the whole assembly moves forward and drops the next ball in. If I put in one ball at a time single shot style it works perfect. It is the weight of the next ball touching the front arm that doesnt allow the current ball to go back consistently, resulting in doubles and jams and weak hits.

pictures are truly worth a thousand words

any chance the front / stop bar is bent in towards the play field?? pushing the ball back up the ramp should change the pressure it puts on the front bar..

neat looking ball discriminator... very unusual

    edit

also look at the pivot point and a possible bend point ... moving both arms towards / away of the play fiield

You have a Moveable Weight on that Chrome ball arm that has some room to move it right or left good luck in the adjustment.

You might try bending or altering the back arm (the arm the ball pushes) so that it clears the spring on the shooter when it goes back, it looks like it's making contact.

And as Mopar said, check the front arm... it shouldn't be rubbing, or blocking the ball path.

Hi, The back arm doesnt make any contact with the spring. The front arm also isnt touching anything. Just the pressure of the next ball up stops the arm from going back sometimes. If I rapid fire it usually works or single shot it always works ( load one ball at a time) The guy I got this from said his uncle got it in japan in the 70's. Maybe it is defective prototype

Have you tried moving the weight then? That seems to be the last thing left. If you move the weight closer to the pivot point, it should help.

Yeah I tried the every position on the weight. All the way forward should do it. But still nothing. Maybe I will mod it forward a little more and see what happens. Thanks guys
