Default First cabinet hung on the wall

Well I haven't finished the drywall but I just couldn't wait to hang this.

Used a couple of French cleats screwed into the studs.

Biting my nails hoping it stays put. That thing is HEAVY.

Here it is open with the cleats. Hasn't fallen off the wall yet!

You're into the studs so you should be good.

I don't know if it's necessary but I think I might add a cleat underneath it. You wouldn't be able to see it. Maybe it would help distribute the weight?

I want to make one with a cleat. Can you show us how you attached the frame to itself and to the pachinko?

I've got a thread with some photos. Let me find it. I used kregg pocket screws and wood glue.

Here you go: http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/show...chinko-cabinet I didn't take any pics of how the pachinko is held in the cabinet, but it's just three corner brackets I got from Lowes. One on each side and one at the bottom. Mostly gravity does all the work. The brackets just keep it from wobbling.

I'm currently building another just like it for my Nishijin Model B.

    Nice!
I just made & put up my first cabinet, too, though mine is much more basic than yours:

There was an alcove in my office lounge that it fit perfectly, so now my people can play a little Pachi!

Just completed my 2nd cabinet build and hung it on the wall too.

dghodge asked about how I attached the machine to the cabinet, so I included a photo of that too.

Balls are occasionally getting stuck between the plastic and the spinners or nails. Not often, but more often than I'd like. You just tap the plastic and they're fine. I might need to adjust the machine in the cabinet a little. I'm guessing it's leaning slightly forward. Might not even happen if I had glass in there. The plastic is pretty flexible and bouncy.

And here's the requisite video of it playing. I didn't capture the ball sticking issue. But you should be able to see the semi-cyclic action from my other post http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/show...-recycler-idea

the machine should be a few degrees leaning back.. yes glass would help allot

Unless you have someone trying to do pullups on the box, the cleats you have are probably fine. I would of gone with just one.

Thanks. I removed it and things seem fine. I guess I was as concerned about the cabinet coming apart as I was about the cleat pulling off the wall. The combo of Kregg screws and wood glue seems to be pretty sturdy though.

The cabinet helps the machine stay stable when you open the front part? That would have helped during the restoration process. Cabinet looks great!

Thanks! Yes, the cabinet does help the machine stay stable when the front part is open.

But I cleaned my machine up and got it working before I built the cabinet. So it didn't really help in the restoration process. Before I mounted the machine in the cabinet, I just kept a piece of wood (an off cut of a 4x4 I think) handy to prop the front up with when I opened the cabinet. But for the most part, there wasn't a lot of need to open the front (other than the glass door) because I could get to the back by turning it around.

None of my machines (I have 2 vintage and 1 early modern) needed to be fully disassembled. Not that they wouldn't have benefited from it, but it wasn't necessary. I was able to clean them up and just remove the few parts that really needed it. So propping the front open while I restored them wasn't an issue.
