My grandfather also was German and had huge hands, none of us do

His wedding ring would fit on my thumb easily.

I started using it many many years ago when I first went into cyber space, just easier to use the same name everywhere, it helps others id you're on other boards too..

I decided on mine when I realized the only thing filling my room was Pachislo's, so Pachiroom just felt right.

Mine is my first online name from way back that I used for IRC and AIM. My friend's online name was his initials and his favorite character from a video game. Seeing as I couldn't think of anything good, I followed the same idea. "DH" = my first and last name initials and "cloud" = Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7. Althought I rarely think of it like that anymore, it is uncommon enough that it is never taken as a user name. My online gaming name however, "ninjaboy" is always taken.

Mine comes from the old BBS days (8 bit home computers and 1200 baud dialup), I needed a username that was 8 characters or less and dave was already taken, so I added the first three letters of my surname.

I remember 300 baud and 1200 was only a dream.

My first BBS system (waaaaay before the internet) was a 300 baud system. When I upgraded to 1200 baud, it cost me $1200 (special sysop price back in 1984 non-inflated dollars!!!!!) for a Hayes modem. I had over a 1000 members on my ArchComm board back in 1984 and that was not easy in those days.

wow back in '84 hard drives were not standard on computers if we had 2 floppy drives we had a hot system! , Apple was a big player in personal computing from what I remember . I was 18 at the time and my attention was fixated on females and V8 motors.

Yep, exactly right. My Apple had a Duo Drive (two floppies) and when I finally broke down and bought a Sider Drive for it (5 whole megs!!!!!! -- wow, I'll NEVER run out of room!) it cost a cool $600!

Well it would seem that for some very strange reason, I have not posted my reply in this Thread! ! ? ? Although I feel sure it has been posted before! ! ? ?

So Okay Okay ! ! to please a certain someone - here is the boring story all over again......

I found this Site by googling and was ready to join up using my e-bay name Pollypurplehorse, as I was actually typing that in, a voice said to me, (yes I was hearing voices back then too! !) don't use that one - use one that can be used by both of us......

So over-ruled at the last Minute - I was frantically trying to think of something I could use - when I realised why I needed to become a member......

It was to find out about a darn Pachislo that had appeared in my home
    'Don Chan 2'
Although at that point I thought it was called 'hanabi'

    So there it is....

You can all wake-up now! !

I ran away with the Steampunk Circus!
I was hiding in a room in my mind...

I thought that I put my answer to this thread a while back , But I guess not.
OK...well I needed a screen name for AOL
because they were the only ones who had an 800 number that I could use way out in the sticks like 20 something years ago.
First I tried Patrick and it wanted to give me pat06537 or something
I didn't want to have to tattoo that on my forehead so I started looking into other names.
I have been a sailboat sailor for my whole life and work as a pilot on the great lakes so I thought I would try sailor. No one would use that.:lol8:
sailor was taken and I got a suggestion of sailor1234.
OK...this was taking too long at .10 a minute. I'll just use something that no one else will think of: sailor followed by my first and last name.
Too many letters for an email address (back then).
That is how I came up with the first sailorpatp. I really like being called sailor for short.
Now when ever I need to use a log on name, I find that that one is available. It was available on MSN, Hotmail, Yahoo, Ebay, AIM and Pachitalk, and many others.

Mine is from the first forum I ever joined which happened to be a Racecar forum and to make life easier for me I just use the same name for all the forums that I'm a member of. I race and autocross a 2001 pheonix yellow Acura Integra Type R which is a very limited vehicle in the US less than 1000 available in 1998, zero in 1999 and less than 1500 in both 2000 and 2001. Each vehicle is badged and mine is #1140 of 1500 for the 2001 year. In the end 01PyTypeR#1140. Click on the links below for a few pictures.

....and I'm sure I posted this before... mine is my first initial and my last name. Now THAT is boring!
