So, my wife found out about my second machine when she came by my office last week, but she actually likes it (and even spent a while playing my previous machine) so I'm safe there

I did, however, have a forehead-smacking moment today as I was trying to clean some brownish gunk from the corner of the overflow/ashtray of my Nishijin. At first I was confused as to why someone would put that junk all over that corner. And what is this crap, anyway?! It's definitely not paint. It's actually a little gummy, almost as if it's dried glue...

Yeah. Turns out it's just missing the aluminum cap from that corner and I was cleaning off 47-year-old glue.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to replace that corner cap. I was thinking of cutting out a piece of aluminum flashing and bending/trimming it to shape, but then I realized that I'm probably trying to reinvent the wheel again.
Has anyone been able to rather painlessly replace this piece?
Is there anyone out there with a beater Nishijin that they'd be willing to part with the piece for a little cheddar?
