I have a New Matsuya! Not sure what you need to know. I wanted this one because I noticed the trap door...and knew it used a solenoid to open it. Here are more pics: http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?50525-Another-Craigslist-find!&highlight=M

my guess is no power required.. but a good picture of the back side would confirm it..

Pic #1: Should have used this pic before. The door above the tulip is operated by a solenoid. I have an arrangeball machine with the same type of door, so I knew what it did.
Pic #2: There is a micro switch attached to the jackpot. Every time the jackpot dumps, the solenoid pulls up, opening the door, for a few seconds.
Pic #3: The word "attack" is on the cover...so I call it an "attack solenoid" and "attack door". There is a small hole in the bottom that adjusts the duration that the door stays open.
Not a common thing. Late '70s...manufacturers started putting simple (sometimes not so simple) electric features to vintage (otherwise all mechanical) machines. Nishijin made a "Special Electric series". A small group of desirable machines like Power Roulette, Circuit, Power Flash etc. They were the beginning of the early moderns.

Don't see anything on the front that indicates anything other than lights for "low ball" and "jackpot". Should be able to use a wall wart or 9V battery.
Vintage pachinko machines, in general...not rare. Matsuya (or New Matsuya) is not a common brand, and you won't see them much or find much info on them. That being said, it does not make it any more valuable. What is rare (and more valuable) is a clean machine with good chrome!

That is a gorgeous machine. I love the background graphic. Which just works with everything in terms of styling. I hate to say it but even those heavily oxidized nails look good, I honestly think having them back as polished brass would take away from the style.

Is this machine rare? Well it is uncommon. But that doesn't mean it is worth any more than any other brand of machine. I actually find some of the most common ones tend to be worth the most as they were the machines most people had growing up.

    100 machines and counting...
