    Default Pachinko lcd screens

Hello I have 2 sanyo pachinko machines and when I turn them on it takes a long time for the screens to boot up and sometimes need to turn them off then back on again to fully boot up , I had one in a cabinet but didn't want it in the cabinet anymore so I dismantled the cabinet but only way to do it was to use a hammer and knock the wood about abit but carefully and since then the screen has taken a long time to boot up but it had to come out of the cabinet so I had no choice , could this problem only get more worse in the future ?

Is it a Sankyo rather than Sanyo, the lumina frames especially Star Wars often have a problem booting up

usually have to switch them on and off and on again and let them warm up

Its the star wars r2 d2 one and lord of the rings , so its a common fault then ? The screens won't just eventually die will they ? Whats a lumina frame ?

yes it's common fault, lots of threads here about it, and I know there is one where member Daverob explains it technically, if I find the thread I'll link it

but yes all the Star Wars (original one with the R2D2) are in the Sankyo Lumina frame (Sankyo is the manufacturer and Lumina is the name of one of the frame design that the titles are in, I'm not 100% sure but I seem to recall it could be some of the Sankyo Victory frames affected too _ Lord of The Rings is in the Victory Frame)

Anyway, mine used to be the only Star Wars that i knew of here that didn't have the cold start issue, but then after a few years it developed it!

Here's the Sankyo Lumina Frame manual link, which Daverob has kindly translated:

The issue is the Sankyo games that use the 'Samurai Force' graphics chipset. They seem very prone to thermal issues and can have problems starting up when cold. I originally thought it was a solder problem on this chip as I had success fixing it by reflowing the solder joints on one machine, a second machine wasn't fixed by reflowing the chip, so I'm not so sure any more. The problem definitely is related to this chip, on all machines I've observed it on leaving it turned on for a bit to warm it up and then power cycling usually fixes the fault, spraying this chip with a can of 'freezer spray' will cause the problem to return.

I have one machine (Neo Powerful) that seems to have permanently failed, I haven't tried any repair on it yet, but it just sits there with stripes on the screen and occasionally makes noises and twitches the animatronics. One day I'll have a go at trying to fix it, but I don't have access to the soldering tools at the company I used to work for, and my home workshop is not as well equipped for fine pitch PLCC chip packages.

The machines affected are the Sankyo Victory frame games from Lord of the Rings onward (earlier machines used a different graphics chip), and all Lumina frame machines.

Hanabi has kindly provided a link to the Lumina manual, the Victory frame manual can also be found on my website.

2 of my Lumina cells are afflicted with this dreadful issue; Neo Fever powerful (like Daverob mentioned) and sadly Marylin Monroe started doing the same thing 80-90% of the time; sometimes the screen will briefly come to life only to go dark again. If anyone wants parts for either of these, I’ll probably part them out since never play them anymore due to this. I’ve decided to sell any Lumina cells with LCDs I don’t play often due to this before I get stuck with any more defective cells!

Its more the chipset than the screen. Its just the screen is the visible part that indicates the fault.

Can't say never, everything dies eventually. But I think it might outlast you
