Default 1975 Sankyo Flip Cup Restoration - Need Jackpot Actuator

    https://imgur.com/a/ptoZLcQ

Hi everyone! I went with my dad to a swap meet last weekend and came upon this vintage Sankyo pachinko machine. The seller was an older man that had picked up the machine on a business trip to Japan years ago. It has obviously just been sitting in a garage or attic for years because it was full of insect crap. He only asked $30 for it and I figured cleaning it up would be a neat project. So far I have taken apart and cleaned most of the back side, the only problem I have is that the jackpot actuator is broken. Anyone have a spare that they would sell, or know where I could get one? I’d also like to install bells to this machine so if I could get a source for those that would be nice.

There are 2 payout actuators on eBay currently but for different brands. Could I swap the piece I need from one of those?

Hello and welcome. The Mizuho actuates differently. The Nishijin looks like it may work, either complete or parts from it.
Bicycle bell should work to replace the missing ones.

I just need the lever that retains the balls.

I want to be sure that one of the others will fit before buying.

Pretty confident it should work. Complete would require mounting mods. Here is a pic for reference. The blue part is from a Sankyo. The other a nishijin. The part you need is almost identical, within a mm. Pin looks same at 3mm dia.

The Nishijin actuator arrived yesterday and unfortunately the lever won’t work with the Sankyo parts.

The actuator for my Sankyo is different from the one used in your comparison. It doesn’t have that little extra plastic around where the balls drop from and the metal part of the Nishijin lever doesn’t come close enough to keep the balls in. I’ll have to see if the whole Nishi actuator will work or something.

The Nishijin actuator has a ridge across from the metal piece to help retain the balls but the Sankyo doesn’t.

That shouldn't matter as the upper part should hold it from releasing. Have you tried just the broken piece?

So far I only swapped the Nishijin lever to the Sankyo actuator, but there is too much space and the balls dropped right through.

Anyways, I found a cheap bicycle bell that fits where the jackpot deposits and I got a 9v battery connector with an on/off switch. All the plastic pieces are cleaned and my dad and I are working on polishing up the metal. Looking much better.

For those aluminum trays once we get them polished we usually spray them with a coat of crystal clear gloss rustoleum paint. That way the trays don't oxidize as quickly and you don't have to spend time polishing them once a week to keep them looking nice and shiny.

Yes the clear dulls the shine a little but that is the trade off.

    100 machines and counting...

Well 5 months later I finally acquired the correct jackpot actuator. Need to install the battery pack and new bulbs but the machine finally works again. Have a few touch ups I want to do but it looks great compared to when I got it.

Glad you didn't give up the hunt. I was searching for over 3 years for a special drive belt for my machine. But got it in the end.
