    I have seen that before! Seems like something originally applied to reduce corrosion of the contact point of where steel balls meet brass tray. Kind of like a "dielectric union" on a water heater. At least thats what I believe it is. Maybe it is just to make cleaning the tray easier. It is original, and likely there to make ball flow smoother...at least many decades ago. It is amazing how overengineered these machines are, considering they could be in a parlor for a maximum of 2 years!

    When I shine a flashlight down into my empty JP tray...it has clear "sticker strips" on the bottom as well!
