Default Retro "The Future " Home Electronics Thread

    Howdy Folks

As I get into my second half of a century of my life I think about all the Really Cool Entertainment Devices that came out when I was in my 20's and I keep on seeing on Ebay a old friend the Atari Video Music which back in 1977 I was lucky enough to get a Brand new sealed in the box on of these devices at close-out for $100.00 .

Now my Oldest brother (I am #5 of 5 boys and 2 girls in my family ) and he was a Assistant Manager at a Disco called "The Mad Hatter Disco" and back in 1976 he was talking about a Video Color Organ that Atari was trying to sell for I think 1K or $500 . Back the Discos were using colored Filament Light Bulbs behind thick plastic ( Look at the movie "Saturday Night Fever " for reference ) with a simple Transistor multi channel to control Red ,Blue , Green light bulbs .

Here is a couple Youtube videos to explain the device:

And this is Ben Heck Fixing one of these old devices

You guys have me yearning to spin some vinyl today!

I have one of these that I found at Goodwill years ago along with a carrying case of about 60 45's. It will also play my 33's and 78's. Sound is a bit scratchy but that goes with half of the childhood memories. I am still looking for an original spindle adapter for the 45's to stack on. Mine is very, very corroded.

Overture From Tommy (A Rock Opera) sounds pretty good!

I'd been going to the https://www.chicagolandshow.com/ several times over the last few years. I believe I've seen multiple of those there over the years. They can have some pretty cool stuff available. Last year they moved it further north, which it was already 3 hours away now it's over 4. I've not bitten the bullet to go to the new location.

And what do you know someone is refurbishing typewriters and even sells ribbons and stuff for Manual Typewriters.

My folks had a Remington typewriter like this when I was growing up in Milwaukee in the late 50's then I move on my own in 1977 when I was 20 .

About a decade or a little more I got one of these Remington typewriter like this one .
