Default Nishijin Elex Rotary with automatic shooter

Just picked up my 4th pachinko machine that will need restoration. Its an odd one because it has an automatic ball shooter and I'm certain its from the 70's - probably the first series that had them.

Before I start getting my hands dirty with it, I was hoping to find a resource online to read up on how the 70's automatic ball shooters should be wired and how they work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Got any pictures of the back side?

I don't think that is an elex-rotary. As they usually have model A style rear mechanics but have an electric motor to control the entire payout system (can be quite buggy at times though). What I believe you have is a Model B ex-change machine. Which was the intro to a system all modern machines now use. Which is having easily interchangeable playfields. So there should be around 4 fasteners and the entire playfield can pop out of the machine and a different one could be switched in. All while keeping the rear mechanics and frame fully intact. Pretty cool system, though finding other playfields for that era of machine is difficult.

    100 machines and counting...

Nice machine! Here's one with I think the same center attraction, but with a manual launcher...

Here are more pictures of the back with some plastics removed so i can see how this thing works. I think there is a electric ball return! Still cleaning it before i run balls in it and run it. Its coming along.

I think I understand how it works, it actually has a ball lifter built into it where it takes your no win balls and brings them back to the middle bonus ball tray. Cool. Here is the bad news - there seems to be either a plastic piece broken or missing from the auto ball launcher. The motor is working and pulling back/releasing the firing arm but it won't load any balls from the ball tray in front of the firing arm.

On manual firing ones, I'm accustom to a metal piece that pushes down on the horizontal plastic tab that releases a ball from the front ball tray. In this case, the ball tray appears to have that plastic vertical tab but no metal piece that pushes it down.

on the automatic launcher side, there is a white square plastic part that a metal arm pushes left to right but no part of that square plastic place reaches the plastic horizontal tab so a ball is released.

Botton line, i'd love to see a picture of this square plastic part that I suspect has something broken off of it, perhaps I can fabricate something that looks similar?

    Here are pictures.

1st picture shows the white square plastic part that is located above the automatic launcher. It doesn't appear to serve any purposes as is. picture is from the back:

    https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1Q...t3gw2p4XQBOvFf

2nd picture shows the ball tray open, the right side is where that plastic tab I'm referring to is located, the left side you can see the white square plastic part in question.

Does anyone have one of these they can shoot me some pictures or explain further how its supposed to work? what am I missing?

I found another post of a member having the same style machine with automatic ball launcher. I PMd him to ask if he had any pictures of the square plastic part I'm having trouble figuring out.

Thanks for sharing, the one that owennewton posted seems to match with mine. I really need to track a member down that has one and have them take a picture of the white plastic part that I need. It looks like owen hasn't been active since 2013. As of right now the machine is cleaned up pretty nicely but still not functional. The part I'm looking for I suspect is going to be very hard to find based on my research.

Thanks for investigating this with me - Ok here we go:

Here is a video of the electro shooter running, you can see the square plastic part being slapped around by the metal arm:

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/zc2zuBspMNt3iCiFA

Picture of the shooter from the back, see the white square with a peg sticking out. you would think the peg could be facing the other way to hit the ball entry level but reversing it didn't work.

Door open, notice the white square plastic part and where the ball entry level is on the right

its appears your machine has something missing or broken.. there is something that would interact with the two pieces when the door is closed

as the motor turns the cam the cam will interact with the white block like in your vid that seems right.. that block should come in contact with the parts on the door (when the door is shut)

its hard to toggle from picture to picture when the pics are posted to an outside source.. can you post them here as well.. some people cant view outside pics..

    * rewrite * I re-read Mopar's post while I was writing, and went back and watched the video.

So I agree with Mopar, the cam seems to be activating the block inside the machine. So my assumption would be the block is not moving the parts in the door to feed the balls in.

Try and move that block manually with the door shut, see if you can see if the 2 pieces interact at all. It's hard to tell, but the block seems like it might be missing a piece. The piece in the door has obviously been broken and repaired at some point.

I'd offer to try and design and 3D print a replacement part, but I'm on the wrong coast. Just the shipping costs back and forth would make that totally impractical.

Looks like your missing the acrylic tab on the playfield piece. Here is a shot of a nishijin B similar loader.20190116_175257-1.jpg

the concept of the acrylic tab is exactly what i'm trying to explain.. but his machine is set up in a different manner

Based on your photos and examining the manual shooter version. I was able to fabicate what i believe the broke part looked like and it seems to be working. I pulled the manual shooter push dowb arm off the other machine and made a mold of it then casted it ib resin and taped it to the broken piece. Its a bit cobby but works very well and reliable. See vids here!
