    Default Drilling through cell

I am considering changing some lights on the machine I am rewiring this is going to require drilling through the cell behind some features. A bit of ragged edges is acceptable and i can set it in my drill press in a way to keep it all perpendicular. I am mainly worried about the bit catching in the cell, does any one have suggestions.

    Thanks in advance

I’d use a sharp Forster bit.

back it up with tape and more wood.. if you keep things tight the tear out will be minimal..

drill threw the back then tape and into another block of wood

I like the forstner bit as well..

start on the back.. drill a little bit. then take a small drill bit and drill a center hole.. (forstner bit has a center pilot point) then drill from the front making the two holes meet.. zero tear out this way

Almost what mopar said, but I just use regular bits. Small pilot hole through then make the finish hole, half way from each side. If there's any roughness I just sand it out. I don't do any cabinet work, so no reason to justify the purchase of forstner bits.
