Question Shooter Knob Goes Dead during Jackpot Round

Does anyone know a reason that the shooter knob would go dead during the jackpot round on a Sankyo machine?

Everything works fine until I get to the Jackpot round and then for some reason the shooter knob seems to only want to fire very intermittantly, eventually this causes the machine to error out

    Thanks for any help

    Jim

Do you hear it clicking when it's not firing?

It's more of a slight hum like the motor is trying to move it but for some reason it just doesn't want to move. Any other time except during the jackpot round it works just fine. Every once in a while it will decide to shoot a ball.

Have you checked the track to make sure you aren't getting a jammed ball? If that's not it, I'd say it's time to give last rights to your motor.

Perhaps, the transformer is underpowered so that when it goes into jackpot, it isn't able to supply power for all the lights and the shooter, as well?

I was thinking that the transformer might be the problem, so I go to the electronics store and all they have is 1 amp in 24 volt, supposed to have some 2 amps in on tuesday so I'll pick one up after work and see if that helps.
    Thanks

Interesting...where did you get the machine? Just curious who might be putting in too small of a transformer or if the machine is older.

As Tulsa suggested I would check the lower front panel to make sure nothing is jammed either.

One problem I discovered while in a bonus round was ejecting the won balls to the bottom hopper for removal and while you are deflecting balls the shooter is inactivated. Most machines alter the route of won balls once the top hopper is full but if you are running a low amount of balls through the machine you need these to keep going. Just a thought

I don't know if 2 amps would be strong enough. I would doubt it.
Do you have any other pachinkos that you could swap the transformer with to see if that takes care of the problem?

I have a sankyo machine that will stop shooting if the bottom hopper (overflow) is too full of balls. As soon as I remove the balls, the machine starts back up again.

I believe you should put in about a 5 amp transformer. A lot of companies only use 6 amp units. 2 amps is likely not enough.

I had a Peguin that stopped shooting when in the Allwin jackpot. Just turning it off & on didnt correct the problem. I had to push the reset button>turn it off>turn it back on while holding the reset button & then the shooter would start working again. Until the next time...
I havent heard anyone mention reset so I just thought Id share...

Picked it up at the swap meet for $20.00, the guy that owned it said that it was having problems with the jackpots, I took it all apart and cleaned it up so there are no balls in the path. I'm filling it with over 2000 balls so it has lots of them. This is the only electric one I have so I don't have anything to compare to. The power cord from the patch panel down to the transformer has two inline 3 amp fuses. Both the power cords appear to have been installed in Japan but the transformer is all in english so It looks like it might have been changed out some time after it was imported.
I'll check and see next time I get to a bonus round if the problem happens while I'm dumping balls from the top to the bottom tray or all the time. I'll also see about a transformer bigger than 2 amps.
    thanks for all the help

I replaced the one amp transformer with a 2 amp one and it seems to have solved the problem. Made it all the way though Jackpot mode up to level 16 with no error codes.
Thanks everyone for all the help
