    Default Perplexing plexiglass problem

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I have tried and tried to get 1/8" plexiglass to work on the inside pane of these machines, my problem is the plexi flexes just enough to get a ball stuck between the plexi and the nails. I know others here have had success, but me, not so much, any help would be appreciated. I know others prefer glass on the inside, but I need to turn down the noise just a little.

Make sure the latch for the door frame is tight. Some can be adjusted to latch tighter. This has the effect of bringing the plexi closer to the nails.

Some of my machines got balls stuck near spinners. I bent/tilted the spinners to minimize balls sticking.

Also, make sure the plexi isn't too tight in the frame and buckling. You might also flip the plexi around, if possible, in case it has a permanent bend.

is it actualy a full 1/8th??

i measure some plexi i have

i have plexi that is about .176 inch thick, it will not flex in a machine

1/8th inch would be .125 it should not flex either

i have also plexi from an old machine that has .077 thickness, it flexes allot

hear are some conversions i found (well that did not copy verry well??? but ya get the idea )

The door on my two machines are shut as far as they will go. I’ve also taken out the stainless steal track that helps to spring the door open when you unlatch it,still no good. What I think is really happening is that the plexiglass was $13 at Ace Hardware and is not really close cell plexiglass, rather some acrylic that’s easily bent, but it is an 8th inch.IMG_0301.jpgIMG_0302.jpg also I have done some modifications on both of these machines for lighting. I used an LED retrofit kit and put one light in the top empty tray indicator, one in the center jack pot light, one in the jackpot seesaw, and one in the ball loader window. I’m using Tapatalk to post pictures on this forum, I hope it works, if it does you’ll see the little bus bar that I used and a 9 V battery to power all of this. For all of those who don’t want to elevate they’re already top-heavy machine even higher, I use these little prescription bottles for an overflow into the small tray, works great.

IMG_0300.jpg A couple pics of my overflow twins. I sure don’t see many of these around. I have read all vintage posts from present to about 2006 and they seem somewhat rare. Cheers😎

I was referring to the overall width, not thickness, suggesting the possibility the plexi is a fraction too wide to sit in the channel without buckling.

Check your plexiglass, I just finished up a machine with new plexi and the new piece I put in had a bit of a bend, swapped the direction and all is well.

I’ve restored 40 machines and only one has been an overflow, so I would tend to agree with you on not being common. But then again, I’m not an expert!
