    Default bypass help

i recently bought a pachinko that was `faulty`, did not fire.
on inspection, it is missing a dongle and the opti sensors are lacking a bridge as mentioned by pinball dave.
I have ordered the parts to make a dongle and they arrive on monday. but impatience has got the better of me, and i really want to get it firing, since i dont have a multi meter either, can i just try bridging each opti sensor and see if it works? does anyone know if I can cause permanent damage doing this?

Oh. You should have asked. I could have probably run one down to you.

As to which opto. No idea. What pachi did you get?

You should be OK bridging the 5 opto's that are part of the card reader interface circuits (as long as you are certain you are bridging the output side of the opto, and not the LED side), but I'm not sure what the 6th opto is used for, and so I couldn't advise you to do this with an unknown opto as I don't know if it's connected to something more critical.

Hopefully your components will turn up today, and you won't need to modify the machine instead.

Thanks everyone, parts arrived today and I can safely say that its all working very well. Now I just need to get some of the lights working, as it seems a bit darker than I would expect, anyone know if there is a reason for this? I assume they are LEDs and therefore unlikely to blow.

Never had that frame. But judging by this video. It's meant to look dark, untill you get a reach or bonus
