Thumbs down Lower Base Cover Glued to Lower Base

Hey guys, hopefully one of you have run into this before and have a solution.
    Nishijin 76' B
The lower base (the clear plastic kind) is glued in a small area to the brown cover and I think I may crack the base if I apply too much force to it. Most of the brown cover is loose but there's this one portion of the base near the lower overflow chute that is stuck together. I'm assuming someone did this at some point because the lower overflow chute was missing and it was probably coming apart.

I'm thinking maybe acetone? Who knows what they used to glue it. Maybe superglue.

    Thanks in advanced...

I have encountered this as well. I used an exacto knife to cut the glue in the channel. Took some work and patience but did manage to free the parts with minimal damage.

Great idea! I'll get started on it.

OK, I got it apart. I had to use a very small amount of acetone. I was actually dipping the point of the x-acto knife into it and triming. But once I got to the point the knife wouldn't fit into anymore, I applied it on the channel with a q-tip. It did a very slight amount of damage to the brown plastic but I think it's neglegible. Thanks for the tip Tink!
