    i know how it feels,
in baseball i was playing catcher had a kid slide into my left ankle which resulted in a shattered left ankle, dislocated foot, broken fibula, broken tibia, and about 1/8 of an inch away from the bone going thru the skin. then i was playing baseball last year and tripped on a bat coming across homeplate and tore 2 ligaments in my right ankle, then about 2 months ago my left ankle gave out which it does frequently on me now and i ended up tearing a ligament in my left ankle.

Slotter: '49 or '51? A friend of mine had a '50 (either the '49 or the '51 had the half-moon cut out in the front of the hood- I just can't remember which year it was.) Nice!
I had a '51 Merc & a whole bunch of other weird & unusual cars throughout the years (usually P.O.S): Crosley Station Wagon, BMW Isetta, '47 Ford w/chopped Carson top & flames, '58 Jag XK150 coupe, among others.
Now I drive a '92 Tercel & have a '94 4-door Sidekick (P.O.S- but it's paid for & it's great in the Winter & when the wheels fall off and/or the fenders & doors fall off from the rust I'll get rid of it).
I also have a Bradley GT II that I've been in the process of restoring for the last several years.

Nope, Josephine above is a '50. The 1949s had the letters F O R D across the hood front and the '51s had an airplane instead of the clear half moon for the hood ornament. Other differences as well.

    Ahhh... the good ol' days...

When you could just LOOK at a car, and tell the year.
There was always something that changed.

So, as a vendor, do you give a discount to Pachitalk members?
I already told my wife that I have another 30 years to skate before my next broken bone. She didn't buy it. But don't worry, I'll be back out there after I've healed from the next (and last) operation.

Slotter: I stand corrected on the year= it's been a looooooong time ago. All I remember is that the hoods without the half-moon were in demand for customizing, and I didn't have a '49, '50 or '51. Later I had a '53 with '59 Caddy bullets fitted into the taillights (too many idiots liked to snap them off, however).

As for me, I have a 98 Ford Ranger that everyother day it makes a new noise and has a different shake/vibration 144,000 miles, 8 new belts, 4 alternators, 2 sets of back brakes and 8 sets of front brakes (yes 8 sets of pads for the front) but I'm not too worried about it as after the 4th set in less than 70,000miles I got the "lifetime warranty brakes" So when they need replacing, it just costs me a funny look and a shake of the head from the parts store owner and a lil dirt on the clothes. 95 Ford contour that has caught fire twice!!!!!!!! But I am not gonna complain. Paid around 16000 for it new and with the settlements from ford on the recalls and never recieving them because of their over sight. I ended up getting a total of 9000 back. Still looks good after 10years, 2 fires, and 139000 miles. Only thing is, On really hot days if it sits out in the sun for about 5+ hours it has a slight burnt smell. But around my neck of the woods that is concidered a poor man's car so no one touches it. I just leave the windows down when its parked and don't have to worry about the smell.

My favorite car I have ever owned was a Mercury LN7. A nice little two seater. I bought it new as a kid. It was all I could do to afford it. But man, did I love it. Solid black with sports everything.

My favorite car was my first...a 1974 Chevy Vega (does anyone remember them) I bought it about 3 months before I turned 16 for $400 hard earned dollars. I had to wait months to drive it and then when I did, it only ever took me one way. Had to call my dad to pick me up all the time...he taught me how to start it with a very long screwdriver making contact between the solenoid(?)and the starter.....but I loved it, small, sporty and red, what more could a 16 year old girl want?....except maybe a car that actually ran........

Gee John, it looks like your not much into cars I missed that '74 Vega on your list...too embarassed? You're right about that rust thing, come to think of it, I don't remember what ever happened to my Vega...perhaps it just disintegrated.
