    Default Jammed vintage pachinko machine

Hi! I'm a newbie and just got a vintage machine that worked briefly then jammed and I can't figure out how to unjam it. May have some other issues but it won't feed any new balls and is jammed up and I suspect the two problems are connected. Need to catch some sleep and then will try again to unjam with any advice in the morning. Any tips on how to unjam?

    Hello and welcome.

Lift the wire that is shaped like a paperclip stopping the balls. You may need to poke them out gently.

This type of jam us usually due to someone continuing play while the machine is low on payout balls in the upper tray. The winning balls back up after the seesaw because the payout is blocked.

Thanks. So that clip was also not connecting to the balls but I poked and was able to clear that part. But when I try to get the balls into play they won’t pinball they just stay put. My husband had thought maybe they were feeding somewhere they shouldn’t but I am not sure. There are still 2 balls sitting in the upper area of the above photo and I can’t figure out how to release them maybe they are partly at fault? They are in plastic and I can’t seem to find an opening for them to release. Will try to post another photo but they are the ones above the main jam in above photo, on the left

the two balls that are in the pic you provided are captured in the jackpot seesaw for balance and counterbalance.. they do not get removed..

how many balls do you have for the machine??

place all the balls you can in the top back hopper.. then take one ball, open the front glass and drop the one ball into a jackpot pocket and see if it pays out..

please post more pics as well.. im sure we can help you get it working..

    and of course

Aha I wondered if those were meant to stay. I have maybe 50 balls. I followed your instructions and it didn’t pay out. There is something defective with the payout area, one part is a bit cracked and the metal piece there is not properly secured. I will try to post more photos. Appreciate the help

50 might be enough for one payout but i don't think so.. your going to have to learn to bypass the lack of balls or buy more balls before it will work right..

    more pics please..

It paid out when I moved a lever in that area. One of the lever parts is broken but will rest on the other parts. That’s probably part of the problem. I can’t seem to post more than one photo in a single message right so will post individually

My phone will only post photos a fraction of the times I try. Is there something specific that needs to happen in order for the machine to launch balls? Definitely the payout mechanism is flawed but for awhile it would launch anyway but now it won’t at all

I shifted the see saw but it still won’t launch balls. Any suggestions on what is preventing it from launching? Looks like maybe balls are feeding into an area other than where they need to go to launch

The wire that travels down the left back side connects to the ball loader in the door, it will block the flow of balls if there are not enough in the upper hopper. Open up the front glass door and door on the front and you will see the ball loader mechanism and how the wire blocks the ball flow.

I would suspect you will need more balls to test.

I found out how to open the ball feeder in the front and was magically able to clear that for the moment so it's launching again! It gave 2 payouts and then stopped giving payouts. I think I have about 70 balls total. It's still launching for now but now seems to be maybe jammed up in a different area or if not jammed then maybe just loading up and not paying out. If any insight let me know. It's a great help to have this forum to post to pachinko 4.jpg

What condition are the balls you have? If they are rusty and rough they may be half your issue. You will need more balls for the machine to operate correctly, from your pictures it also looks very dirty, 40 years of dust and dirt often cause most of the intermittent problems as the ball do not flow freely.

Have as look at a couple of the stickies in the vintage forum to help you understand how things operate. There is a good Nishijin model B video (Mopars) that will be quite close to the same operation as your Heiwa.
