    Default 1964 Daiwa pachinko

took possession of this lovely machine today!
I am assuming 1964, but there is a nail blocking the final number of the date. Anyone else have further insight?
took a little bit to clean it and get it working, but it plays really well now. Sometimes the jackpot balls jam, but the mech cover is not so easy to remove as it is nailed in and not screwed.

There are many unique aspects about this machine that I love:
the custom trim installed! It has the same wood stain as the rest of the machine wood, so probably done early on for flair in whatever parlor it was at.
    My first single shot!
It takes a coin to receive balls. A solenoid fires inserting a queued ball into the win mech and gives a jackpot
Has a tube to see balls ready to be purchased.
Has a screen to see balls queued in the upper hopper.
Upper pocket mechanism switches between single-ball hole and 3-ball hole as it is entered.
No rebound rubber, so it plays like a British Allwin machine

Very nice conversion...where does the coin go? I see that the wires go up, and are tied into the original wiring, I would expect into the JP circuit...but that is not what you described. Looks like the solenoid pulls down, pivoting the rod (brazing rod?) upward, sending a ball from (what I call...not sure it's real name) the jackpot reserve chamber, to just in front of the seesaw...for a 15 ball payout. Quite intriguing...but I can't tell how the coin part works.
Many times, there is a lever or button on the front, so the player can retrieve his (or her) jackpot whenever they want to...after the seesaw is reset by the attendant. 2012-02-19 06.34.56.jpg On a machine like this...I like to move the seesaw to the down position, drop 5 balls into the jackpot (that is all the jackpot reserve chamber will hold on most of my machines that have this feature), then play like normal 'till I lose. Then, I twist the lever, or push the button...and 15 more balls to play! Yours don't seem to have any button or lever. This is quite common as well. The parlor attendant would move the linkace to payout the jackpot(s) when he (or she) reset the seesaw. Yours is an electrical modification to replicate that action...if by coins...way cool!
Please describe in greater detail...with pics , how the solenoid is activated.
Plus the cell is quite ornate for it's eraGreat machine...glad you were able to get it!
When looking at the pic I posted of the lever...I see why I originally took that pic. On that particular machine... when the reward tray is low, a metal plate blocks the "feed hole".

I love the background on that machine. Then again I love the background on most the 50's and 60's machines. So much color and geometric patterns / shapes.

    100 machines and counting...
