    Default Extreme Wear on Bell

I don't have a lot of experience with pachinko machines. I found the wear on this Bell to be quite extreme thought I'd share.

that is amazing.. i cant imagine how many ball strikes it would take to move metal like that..

I have seen a few bells with scuffs.. seen one or two with a good dent but nothing even close to that..

    Awesome picture..

Seems a few machines may have used slightly softer bells. My Hokoku was pretty beat and here is the bell from a Kyogoku I did this spring. Worst I've seen to date.20180401_134205-1.jpg

Probably made of aluminum. I also have had extreme wear on an aluminum bell. Clearly the bell had been rotated twice to put the steel balls striking a new surface! filed off the "wave", then bumped the dent from the inside with a hammer and screwdriver. Then some light filing to smooth the high spots. Don't look particularly pretty...but it is round. I know the metal is thinner and weaker than before, so I switched places of the main bell and overflow bell, in order to have it struck less. I know that they are different tones...but who really cares which one is correct?

Judging from traces of rust...your bells are steel. Making yours the most damaged I've seen! It would take a very great ammount of strikes to achieve damage like that! It also will be more force required to bump that dent!

You can move metal by constant tapping it with another piece of metal. I remember as a kid we would take a dime and by tapping on the side with a spoon, turn it into a ring. We could do this in just a few days.

If the bell is steel, you could try to get it back into shape like pachiwall did, then harden it a bit (torch with a quick oil, or water quench) to keep from getting a repeat of the condition.
