    Default gold plating

I just got a machine [star of giants] that has a gold frame instead of chrome. It has some corrosion spots that takes away from condition. I was wondering if anybody has a fix to make frame look new again. Is it typical for these gold plated machine frames to corrode and pit?

I’m guessing it’s a metallized plastic frame. there are companies that will rechrome/ “regold” plastic but they’re likely going to need to to strip the entire frame and then perform the process on the whole thing. It’s hard to spot repair surfaces and have decent results because the old and new colors never quite match.
