    Default Problem with Woody Woodpecker

    Hi All

I'm in West Yorkshire UK. Not many people around here have even heard of Pachinko.

    Great site!!

I'm quite new to pachinko. Got myself a Sammy Popeye 2004 a few weeks ago. I think it's great fun and as far as I can tell the machine works perfectly. Does anyone have a manual for this machine?

Anyway, full of enthusiasm, I bought another machine this week (£26 on ebay. Wow!!). It's a Maruhon Woody Woodpecker 2004 (picture of my machine attached). This is also a great machine but it never pays out. The reels spin when I get one in the start, I have balls in the hopper and can see them in the chute down the back of the machine (I played with the hopper release lever and had dozens of balls bouncing on my tiled floor

, lesson learned!). I can see the balls all the way into the payout unit (picture). I have tried resetting the machine, holding the reset in when I switch on.

What am I to do? Bit scared of taking it apart unless someone tells me that a dummy can do it. Are payout units replaceable/obtainable/servicable?

I read the manual for this machine on here, that lead me to all the checks I did so far.

    Any advice would be great

    Thanks

does it by chance, payout one ball only if you turn the power off and back on again?

The reason I asked about one ball is that the way the jackpot worked was that one of the 2 jackpot feeds were blocked. So on power up the jackpot would turn see one ball fall our from one channel but stop because it didn't see the ball from the second channel.

Just tried switching power off and on with the switch on the machine and also by pulling out the power plug. Neither of these paid a ball. I listened in that area while turning off and on and there were no sounds from that area at all.

Thanks for the response. Sounds at least doable to service a payout unit.

There are balls in both channels.

    Next stage would be.
Just check for any blown fuses. Check the connections on the payout motor. Disconnect and reconnect. Check the ball tank empty switch is working properly. Then remove the payout assembly. Normally just a clip and slide out action. Check balls flow all the way down both channels to the motor. There's is normally also sensors in each ball path to check if the tank is empty as well.
Then check the payout gear isn't jammed.

    Sorted!!

I followed your sugestions. The payout motor had some fluff inside it so I freed that up. Then, when checking that balls flow all the way down both channels I found a bit of plastic (pic.) stuck in the rear channel above the hopper release lever (pic shows location). I managed to tease it out with a bit of bent wire. Switched it on and it started paying out like crazy till it caught up. Now it works properly, paying 3 balls each time I get one in start.

Thanks Drunkenclam for your clear and correct diagosis IMG_8543.jpgIMG_8544.jpg
