Question Custom paint on center features good or bad?

I got a Nishijin B dolphin one, and most of the paint on the center, as well as the small bits have peeled or cracked.

I searched around and finally found another (most seem to be dancing dolphins) on the site:
    8911E16B-7D8A-4441-B6C4-36A1341260A0.jpeg
Which probably has not been restored, but there seems to be a huge, flat concentration of blues... while I love blue, it makes the features less distinct when they are all kinda close?

My question is that if you say, add some metallics and change the colors a small bit, is this going to wreck the machine, completely ruin value etc? The machine is otherwise in good shape.

Oh and how in the world to clean the clear tube, this one is one piece!

No matter what, your choice of colors isn't going to increase or decrease any game's value.

Go with more realistic colors - varying shades of gray (but not 50! )

Q-tip and plastic polish would be my guess, other than 409 for initial cleaning.

Thanks. I know I can’t increase value... and I don’t own 50 colors, but wanted to vary it a bit. Thanks.

The clear part curves and can’t be reached by the normal q-tip, and this one is a one parter... will try a bottle brush, but the part at the bottom has a really tight curve!

Toothbrush won’t fit, that is what I am using to clear off the loose paint. I will try the cotton balls. It is awkward due to the bends.

    What a lovely machine...

Soak any plastic parts without paint in Super Clean or Simple Green, and keep them submerged. Let a strong string or shoe lace pass through tube, and tie a rag of appropriate size to end of string. Pull through as often as needed, then rinse WELL. Simple Green is easier to find, but Super Clean works better in my opinion. I'm assuming it is actually still available...

Working on my spinners... needs touch up. As much as I love to wear pink, the pink spinners just are so blah.

Go to a car parts store, look in the wash & wax aisle. Super Clean should be there. It is made by Castrol...the motor oil company.

Turns out we have the purple stuff at home... I unearthed a bottle in the car cleaning stuff. I have been using a combo of cleaners. If I was not so damn unhealthy, I would be done, but I removed a few brass nails, punctured myself and had to rest. I am following the guide, but laugh when he says this should take x hours or minutes...
...almost at the point of removal of the races and background.

Re spinner paint, I just coated it in a dark color, and then used a dot tool to make the dots, practicing on cardboard before. You can also use a round pin stuck in an eraser. Wipe off completely after each one as too much paint builds up. Learned that too late.

will a pipe cleaner not work on the tube. If you can't find one, go to a store that sells gun cleaning supplies and they have them for cleaning gas tubes on AR style guns.

So I get the races, field pins and case nails out and...

The whole thing is delaminated. Like a deck of cards. Currently it is sitting with a ton of wood glue, under clamps. I used a scraper to get glue in as far as I could. Is this common, or a sign to scrap this puppy?
