Default Evangelion 8 - New member of our household

I took delivery this week of my newest addition, an EVA 8 pachinko direct from Japan. This is the 319 version and it came with a auto control system attached. The controller did not come with any instructions and also didn't seem to function completely. I noted where the many connections hooked up before removing the system and restored the machines original connections. Worked out a couple bugs, added a battle counter and Daverob dongle.

I played a couple hours worth tonight and it took 344 starts to reach a fever round. More fun tomorrow as I start up where I left off tonight! The playtime is good in that the scenes vary often enough as well as the music. There are a couple minor cosmetic flaws but then again it is used.

lol yea the best part about this frame is the Giant Rei on it. I have had mine for some time, but it's been sitting in storage. Eventually I'd like to clear out my game room and get it set back up again.

Love mine even though I also have Eva 10, but hate how mine won't save memory so every time I turn it back on all the stats are reset. It also has a flashing error on startup that I haven't figured out yet; possibly related with the memory issue? Are these machines using a supercapacitor or is there some lithium cell battery on the board somewhere? I just haven't really spent the time to figure it out.

Well I didn't get in any playtime yesterday but I sure did tonight! I powered off the machine during the start of a fever round two nights ago and it started up where it left off for my play time tonight. A few bragging pics to offer for my first go with this machine.

I went a total of 12 rounds and made the top of what looks to be the daily leader board and 4th of the all time high score. (I am "DAD" even though the dates are incorrect. The daily board looks to be generic for every thousand points. I haven't dug that deep into the menus yet.) I spent about 4500 balls and netted about 9000 balls in the end during this frenzy of about an hour and a half tonight. And a pic of you know who!

    Hello soupy,

I would assume that there is a capacitor saving items to memory or a form of some RAM memory that holds onto the info as I never seen a cell battery on any pachinkos yet. But I really don't know how and where this is done/located.

Are you able to capture a picture of the flashing error message at startup? Others may recognize it and be able to offer further help. Some machines have both a cell and a frame reset button. Mine retained the memory of the high scores after a short period on being powered down. I will need to look at it again after several days of no power and report back.
