Default Nishijin b 1973, jackpot inconsistencies

I am a newbie and this is my first pachinko. I got it used, not working. It had a lovely cherry skittle jamming up the works. I cleaned out everything and shined up the chrome.
I don’t have a lot of balls yet, but I have enough (that I cleaned) and tested my machine and I have to clear every other jackpot. The “paperclip” part is fine, but the plastic part around it has broken and was glued together by a previous owner. Could the rough interior of the plastic piece be an issue as the balls tend to back up there, or that the lever in that area is not calibrated correctly?

Any other ideas? I have not touched the tulips. It tends to happen more when the tulip is closed.
Trying to attach a picture of the broken piece. I can’t add the picture...

Hello Rumpled and welcome to the group

I would imagine that if the repaired portion is not smooth on the ball side then it would add to the problem. I haven't done any major plastics repair yet but others should be along to help out. Can you post a few pictures covering the complete back? I'm more into the modern machines but others may spot something relating to your problem.

Thank you... here are more pictures... I have not figured out my exact model... I know it is 1973 from the background.

    first off

    Welcome to Pachitalk

there is no connection from an open tulip and a closed tulip and the jackpot payout.. any correlation between the two is a total coincidence..

the ball leaves the jackpot seesaw and rides the spoon down to the paperclip.. the spoon has a few pivot points.. its kinda a pain but your going to have to take apart those pivot points clean them of goop and grime.. use some emery cloth or steel wool on the rods to clean them smooth.. DO NOT lube them with anything when you put them back together.. get them clean inside and out..

now if that does not solve your problem i have another idea.. see if that helps ya..

of course if the tube is rough it might be a problem.. but my money is on dirty pivot points..

I took the brown parts off. Lots of spiders. I cleaned. It was gross as predicted. The lever by the clip would go all the way down so I thought I was golden... but alas... I re-assembled after a good dry, and the same problem persists. That lever hangs in the middle when a ball comes down.
I have watched [multiple] videos on clearing jams and so I press the see saw, but the area may get a new ball, but it does not drop to the bottom, it hangs. All my parts on that side are riveted on, so not sure how to access them.

Ok not rivits, nails. I took those off, cleaned up everything and followed the issue up to the white plastic s pieces that are supposed to swing away. I am not sure if my make shift cover over the lower feeder is pushing too hard (it is a piece of aluminum flashing with a copper wire holding it in place, and so I loosened it up, but the issue persists. So I took a piece of ribbon and gently tied the s pieces back out of the way and bam, the machine works like a champ. So I am going to work on that area. Thanks so much!

The inner one is the one that is catching. The outer one functions fine.

looks like you have something in the back ball track. the weight of the balls should move those two fingers out of the way allowing the jackpot rod to rise missing them.. as a last resort you can bend the metal tab on the jackpot rod so it clears a bit better.. the problem is if you permanently wires them back you will have problems with your machine if you play it without enough balls in the hopper..

Probably another skittle .. I don’t plan a permanent solution which is why I used ribbon.
I will work on it so it works smoothly. Thanks so much for your help!

    Been cleaning the field...

After... wow... and a lot of q-tips... even spinners had rust on them.

and you will be thrill to know that I did find another skittle... the top loader would not empty into the bottom level (sorry for my lack of terminology) so I opened it up. Alas, I had removed the skittle before I took the picture but there was plenty left.
