Default My pachinko machine is giving me an Error 3. Please help.

I purchased an Evangelion CR 9 pachinko machine a couple of years ago. After a while of playing it appears it got a jam and was not paying out correctly. After fixing the jam and catching up to the payout, the machine is continuously shooting balls through the payout slot and giving an Error code 3. I am a novice when it comes to the machine. I have noticed that, what I assume is the payout unit is staying open constantly and will not close. I am hoping this information is adequate as I would love to get my machine back to working with zero errors Thanks in advance.

Hello Trek32 and welcome to the group

A few thoughts worth double checking if you have not done so already. I'm not sure what frame you have and some codes may be different between manufacturers.

Have you run a couple hundred or thousand balls thru the unit? If the machines is recalling a large fever payout to be done then it could be a couple thousand balls. After that it would finish paying out all the random 2,3,4 ball payouts that were coincidentally collected along the time of play.

Some have the error code #3 as a jam in the payout or a sensor switch in your bottom front tray. If your front rewards tray is full then empty that to see what happens. Your prior jam that you cleared may have gone further into the system needing a closer look. The smallest bit of debris in the payout tracks could be tripping the error code.

Have you tried resetting the cell and / or frame? Again, I don't know what frame you have but if you see a reset button then hold it in for several seconds while powering up the machine. This might clear things up as well.

Something here might help but if not, please post some pictures of the back for all to look over. Someone may spot your problem right away. (Pictures have a max size of 2meg.)

Thank you for your response. I have run around 1000 balls through the machine and that cleared the error code 4 which I believe was the payout code. I will attach pictures as soon as possible. I have tried resetting the machine, but to no avail. I believe I've cleared all jams, but it is a possibility I've missed something. Again, I'll post back soon with photos.

When the balls fall thru do they go to the back or front? Is this with the power off as well as on?

They go through the front only. This is with both power off and on. No matter how many balls are fed into the hopper they continue to go through the front.

The first thing I'd check is the red slide bar in your picture below located under the cover to the ball payout mechanism. This functions as a dump switch to quickly empty the hopper. Is it pushed all the way down in a closed position?

It is pushed all the way in the closed position. If I push it to the open position the balls feed through the back instead.

I can't imagine the balls would be falling thru on their own but rather that the system is trying to process the past winnings. I'm not sure what else would be happening but hopefully another member can shed some light on this. I'd suggest to keep feeding balls into the rewards hopper to see if it catches up with itself.

As for the code 3 error I'd guess there is a build up of some muck inline somewhere. I've had balls slow down and even jam due to the nicotine build up in the ball channels. After a cleaning of the balls, payout mechanism, and tracks the balls ran smoother.

Thank you for your advice. I will continue to feed the balls to see and I'll clean the tracks. I'll update as soon as I can on whether it works or not.

I am still attempting to get it to work. So far the balls are still falling through, but I did give the channels a much needed cleaning. As for the error code 3. I used Google translate (my only means to understanding Japanese) and it spit out the translation, "Discharge switch abnormality detection error" this is beyond my knowledge and I hope someone on here can tell me what it means. Until then I shall continue to feed balls through the machine in hopes that maybe it will fix itself.

I sure hope you get it fixed. It looks like a fun machine.

Thank you. It's still giving me issues, but I'm going to keep working on it. I'm still feeding balls into it hoping that will fix it, and hoping nothing will have to be replaced. It was definitely fun when it was working, one of my favorite purchases by far.

Have you removed the payout motor. And checked balls are flowing down both paths. That there is nothing stuck in the motor. Or the payout motor is clipped in correctly and not stopping balls.

Thank you for your response. I have removed the payout motor and checked for any blockage. So far I haven't seen any. I reattached the motor and checked to see if the balls would flow through. If I switch it over to ball release, they will release out of the back. If I switch it back, the balls continue out the front. I'm not sure if that means the motor is bad or if I'm missing something somewhere.

if the balls are coming out the front. its normally just a sign its catching up on payouts. a fever can easierly be 2000 balls to payout as well as other small rewards

You all were a ton of help. I went to try to feed it for what feels like the hundredth time and it seems to have cleared the error. Sorry for all of the commotion about it, but again thank you for all of your help.
