Default Hello // Seattle // Sankyo “Fever Wanted”

    Hey There.

My name is Jarrod and I am stoked to get a machine and get tinkering.

My machine seems to be in fairy good condition. Three pending issues:

    1) The Payout is grinding every 90 seconds or so. No balls pass through. It sounds probably normal rotation but it seems stuck. Also the diagnosis is 4 which my understanding is a grinding pay out device.
    2) The audio is turned off (and I don’t know how to turn it back on.
    3) I don’t understand the three stage switch on the back.

I need your help so I will most likely open two individual tech tickets.

Let’s make it a great week.

    -Jarrod, Seattle

    Hello and Welcome

I have never had anything in this frame, so this is a bit generic.

For payout. You might have something jammed in the payout motor. Either fluff, an oversized ball or something else. With the power off. Try to remove the payout motor. Be careful when you do as any balls in the rear tank will flow through and out unless you stop them or there is something obstructing the ball paths.

As for sound. Unless the machine was modified with additional volume controls, you have a standard 3 position switch. None of the settings is off or mute.
It ranges from Loud (on the left), Louder and Ear Bleeding (on the right)
Try opening the front door and locate the speakers. Then follow the wiring back.

Hello Jarrod and welcome to the group

    to Drunkenclam's comments.

Hopefully the speakers are just unplugged and some minor debris is jamming the ball route.

Your missing wires to that 4-pin yellow connector to the left of the switch. There are only a few empty connectors, those being the battlecounter connections (usually upper right of the back), the little red slot one on the mid lower left (something for testing) and the DB25, lower right, which is a dongle/parlor connection.

Regarding the Work I have done thus far on the Payout Motor:
    * I have taken it apart and put it back together.
    * Originally there was a hair that was wrapped taunt around the inside motor and gear.
    * I cleared that up and it is still not working appropriately.
    * I am wondering if the pachinko balls that were with the game are simply too big, as it is hard to test without the power on.
    * I feel comfortable pulling the motor fully apart and back together, however, I feel like the payout motor isn't really made to be messed with a lot.

If you load up the balls in the rear top tray do they flow okay on their own down to the point of the payout motor? Sometimes the smallest amount of muck can stall the flow of balls. Also within the payout motor assembly as nicotine builds up inside that is transferred from smokers to the balls handled and leaving debris throughout the machine. Having at least 500-1000 clean balls is also helpful.

Any recommendations to a new set of 500/1000 balls? I am fine replacing the whole thing. The balls are damaged bad. As a pinball nerd, I understand what those are doing to the playfield and such.

Regarding dumping in the balls and flow all of the way down to the motor. There appear to be two tracks and when I remove the payout motor, both sides have balls flowing from each track into the payout motor.
Do I need to pay attention to each track? Why are there two tracks? Does one tend to get backed up more than the other?
Also, on the payout motor, there appear to be two rings with sensors on them to count the balls as they exit. Do these matter how they are installed? Could those be the culprit?

It feels like the motor turning the ball feeder inside is jammed and doesnt know how to resolve itself. But again, total noob here.

Generally, one line feeds smaller payouts, the other or both for larger payouts.

Take pictures (for your own reference) and take the payout device apart and see if anything looks amiss.

Find where that missing wire connector was?
