Default Pulled the old Nishijin out of the garage

I have had this machine since I was a kid, around 1977. It has followed me around since and I have wanted to clean it up for years. I wiped off the dust and it works perfectly. I threw away some rusty balls and a few that were too large, causing jams. What does it need to really make it shine? I need a new upper right bumper. I read you can carve one out of an eraser. There is some rust inside the outer glass frame. The inner plexiglass is cloudy in the middle. I polished the nail heads. Too bad the playing field has water damage but I guess it could be worse.

Which bulb is brighter with a 9v battery? The 7.5v or the 12v?

I’m glad this forum is here. It is a fun game to play. You can tell it was designed to slowly take your balls but to have enough jackpots to keep you interested.

Wow, I just picked up one of those this weekend! The field graphic is different, but the machine is the same. Ours is a 1976 going by the stickers and stamps.

Neat machine. The 7.5 would be brighter but will have a shorter life due to over voltage.

Oh. It's a "No More War"

As above. 7.5v batteries will be brighter. But will burn out quicker and generate more heat. This could be a problem with the surrounding plastics. Especially on the low ball light.

Best stick to 12v bulbs and prolong the life.

Looks pretty similar other than the art/background. That's cool that we both just signed up with the same machine.

Did you find any solution to getting new rubbers ordered and installed? I need some too...

New here, but figured I'd chime in on the new bumpers question. I've ordered replacement parts (bumpers and stickers) from pachinkoplanet.com. Just looked and the bumpers you used to be able to get singly now seem to only be available in a kit.

I just ordered the bumpers, grommets, and a light kit from PachinkoPlanet. I can’t wait to get them.

I ordered lights, bumpers and the crown stickers for the tulips from there on Monday. No shipping notification yet, hope they show up.

Home Depot and Lowe's didn't have 1/8" plexiglass. Michael's did but it's coated so it's $40. I bought two of these from Amazon for $30 and they fit great. Now you can really tell how cloudy the old one is. And it is not as loud with the two layers.

It's ok if the plexiglas is a little thicker or thinner than 1/8"; also ok to use real glass! I like the sound better and the play (bounce).

At the parlor, there would have been two pieces in your machine, get one of each (glass and plexiglas) and see which one you prefer on the inside track.

Non tempered is fine. A piece of plexi in the outer slot can add protection for kids or pets, but not required.

So my lights work now and I replaced the bumper and rollers thanks to Pachinko Planet. It’s amazing it can sit around for 40 years and still work so well. I kind of want to build a cabinet around it and hang it on the wall.
