Default It is time. The Destruction and Construction.

Sometimes, to create, you must destroy.

    This time is no different.
Over the summer, my son and I will be tearing apart, and rebuilding my old '74 Nishijin B (Sophia). In the process, measurements shall be made. CAD Drawings and models made. New parts shall be 3d printed. Files and drawings will be shared.

Watch this space, interesting things are coming.

postscript; The wood has been getting really grotty and the cel has seen better days and is sadly, not repairable. I'm not sure how much of the original will be used or saved, but "Dis' gon' b gud." Full drawings and models will be made in Autodesk Fusion360, such that apart from the cast bits, if someone did want to make a pachinko machine in the old style, they could. This is the hope and goal. I'm not sure where I'm going to find a source of 20mm ply though.

    just for a quick taste of what to expect;

Final scale drawings will be released in PDF format, and models in STL format. I figure that should make most things 3D printable. Maybe IGES or STEP if there's a request for it. I guess milling machines use that as some sort of interim format.

And yes, because I know someone out there is thinking it, I know I am.....

I'm totally going to make a fully interactive model in Unreal Engine, also to be released free of charge. If anyone wants to contribute some nice images of their Model B cels, I would be very appreciative.

BTW, if anyone in the community has any feedback, thoughts or opinions, or just would like to have a particular part modeled first (replacements needed?), let me know.

Because I'm tired and don't feel like doing too much, I'm modeling that bumper thingy that goes in the top right. No idea what it's called, but the math is certainly fun.

Some members have modeled other parts, On your model B, the most commonly missing parts are the lower ramp feed cover and the dust covers. I remember Max modeling (sic?) the lower ramp feed cover.
Don't remember anyone modeling the dust covers, although member cardwii makes a nice molded replacement piece...

The dust covers are transparent, molded plastic. One near the see saw is curved and another one covers the center jackpot mechanism (sometimes has light bulbs).

You can search through my files that I've uploaded. http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/show...hlight=printed

I haven't made too many parts for the model B. Mainly because I have quite a few of them to steal parts from.

    100 machines and counting...

I peeled off the old playfield, man was it trashed, but I'll save it until I can get a decent scan of it.
rather a lot of water staining in the paper (mysterious history of a machine that's older than me by 8 years, and I never knew the playfield was meant to be white, I thought that cream color was the original color!)
the wood on the other hand doesn't look too bad after a good scrape and sand.
    We're gonna re-use this part.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and we have some new parts.

I know it's been a few months, but have you made any progress on this build? I love that you're doing stuff in CAD. We need more of this and we need a repository for CAD drawings, 3D print models etc...

Sadly not. MY son lost interest as other things came up over the summer, and I became very busy with work.
