Default how thick should the inner glass be on a modern machine?

I have a 1999 Nishijin the outer glass is missing and I think the inner one may have been replaced with a sheet that's too thick. I had a nearly impossible time getting it out of the slot, the vintage machines i have both have much thinner plexi and also no second glass panel. should it be closer to 2mm like the old ones or 3mm like the new one.

Wish I could help. That is a tough one. I believe most of them are custom cut (not 100% the same width either around depending on where it is touching). So when the machine goes out of production It is harder to find.

With the advent of 3D printing...I am sure one of our pro's will have a better response.
