    Default I Saved a Nishijin Model C - Birds on a Wire.

I had been perusing eBay for pachinko machines about three weeks earlier and ran across one for $1 while studying for my last college final in the library. That's right, a whole single dollar. The listing read "I have no use or interest in this machine. I saved it from a hoarders liquidation and want it gone. Local pickup only." My heart skipped a beat as I realized that I would soon be making the drive from Virginia to Massachusetts for the Brimfield antiques show. I blasted off an email to the seller asking him to hold the machine.

He let me know he would hold it for three weeks until I was able to detour off the garden state parkway in New Jersey to get it. Luckily, it was only about 40 minutes out of the way on the trip to Massachusetts, and sure enough, when I got to the address, there the machine sat in the driveway just as promised. I just can't believe that it actually worked out.

The machine is basically spotless. It has some bumps in the ball tray, and it needed some cleaning and mechanical maintenance, but for a 1977 machine, this thing is an absolute gem that the guy could have easily gotten over $100 for. I fixed the mechanical stuff and cleaned what needed to be cleaned, and it shines brighter than ever. I even got a plug for the lights and they work perfectly! I just can't believe such a pretty machine was so close to being tossed in the dumpster. Take a look for yourself!

This is my second machine, and I'm so glad to have it. It will never be close to being trashed ever again.

I was told that this was a superhero that had fallen off of the power lines trying to get the birds down. The birds mock him every time a ball goes through the main attraction since it makes the birds jingle around the inside of the machine.
