    Default New from Texas

Hi. My name is jesse. I am new to collecting pachislos. As a kid growing up i was facinated by slot machines and always wanted to own one. When i was about 14 i finally got my first pachislo called ward of lights. At that time i really didnt understand or appreciate it because it was small and didnt have a pull handle on the side. My mother sold it later on. I would see pachislos sometimes in bars and such but it wasnt until resently that i started really getting into them and understanding what they really are. I am 28 years old now and I just landed a great job so i am able to afford to buy them now. I just purchased my first four. (Tomb raider, black lagoon, night shift nurses and castlevania III.) Im awaiting for them to be delivered until i can really understand how they operate. I am an electronic engineer with 4 years experience repairing arcades so i am very confident that i will be able to start repairing pachislo’s in time. The questions running in my head now are, ( will i need a manual for each machine i buy, evaluate what keys i will need to get, power supply issues, types of tokens, and best place to buy all these things.

Hello JesseLee and welcome to the group

Manuals are hard to come by but most things about pachislos are similar from one brand to another, or at least the older ones. Keys are sometimes a missing item. You have a door lock and a keyed reset switch inside for many machines. Both have several fairly easy work arounds or fixes. Power supplies come in two flavors that I have seen. Some machines run directly on 100V (Japan standard) and others use a 24VAC transformer. There should be a data plate showing the power requirement, often found on the back. Most machines use a 24mm sized token (about the size of a quarter) and fewer use a 30mm size. Another item you may want to add is some sort of volume control. Depending on where you use these machines some can become very loud at times.

There are several sellers on eBay with all of these items at times as well as members here that might have items to sell too. Let us know what you need and someone is sure to help. We also like pictures so please post some when you get set up

I will make sure to show everyone my setup once its finished. Are the keys somewhat universal or does each machine have a specific different key?
