    Default volume

IF I HAVE AN ANSWER BY 8PM EST. SOMEONE PLEASE REMOVE.

I know, I know. "great, another stinkin volume control" But what can I get from the local radio shack that isn't gonna cost me an arm and a leg that I can control the volume. I have cotton every where but it makes it sound like sh*t. I want to be able to turn it up and down as needed. when its me, myself and I, Let that baby blast. When wife and lil one asleep, I need it quiet. I have searched and what lucky said the people at radio shack look at me stupid and say, "uhhhhhhhhhhhh I don't think we have that...." and you guys say to put the mod, between the amp and speaker. I have no clue where the amp is... Can I cut between the circuit board and speaker???? and do I need two since I have to top speakers???? you have 2 1/2hrs. before someone will possibly pull this thread... GO!!!!!!!!!!!

    radio shack has a 10 watt 50 ohm resistor #271 133 two in a pack for 1.79

also small assorted potentiometer and trimmers package of 12 #271-1605 for 3.59

just cut one speaker wire and solder them in.

    one per speaker.

your amp is where the volume switch is.

Gee Lucky, my answer wasn't quite as technical as yours...but I thought it was worth a shot. Good thing for Scooby Doo that one of us knows what we are talking about.

Forget Radio Shack. Get your volume controls either here:

    http://www.autoslot.info/pachitalk

    Or here:

    http://www.pachislo.com/pachislo/par...il/volume.html

I have used the pachislo.com volume controls (the 5 for $15.00 ones) and they work well. I haven't tried the Autoslot ones yet but I am going to try them on the 2 machines I have coming in because it's been reported here that they are easier to work with (not that the other ones were any problem, actually they were quite easy). You don't need to know where the amp is or all that stuff. Just locate the speakers and cut one of the 2 speaker wires anywhere that you have easy access. Then just solder one cut end to each terminal of the volume control and you're done! If the volume control is near any metal you may want to put a piece of electrical tape on the back to prevent any shorting.

That seems to be a nationwide problem, ha ha. They will always ask you what you are looking for. You tell them, and then they tell you they don't have it. Say thank you and start looking around the pegboards. 99 times out of 100, the thing you're looking for will be there.

Then, go to the register and say, "I know you don't have this, but I want to buy it anyway." Haul azz back home and commence to solderin. The end.

Cut one wire coming from the speaker. Strip about 1/2" of insulation from the ends of the wire that you just cut. Connect the stripped wires to the device you're installing (that would be the resistor OR the trimmer OR the pot). Tape the connections if you're in a hurry. Go back later and do something to make the connections more permanent.

Last time I was at the Shack, a young lady--Teri Hatcher, I think--was working. She took me directly to her drawers and went through them with me until I found what I needed. I bought stuff that I still don't know what it is. That's service, ladies and gentlemen.

Well, Teri said Howie Long is a bit of a misnomer but I didn't ask her what she meant by that. To answer your question, I'm sure it wasn't Howie.

Are you talking about the pointy hat guy that does Travelocity commercials? Is that Howie? What an actor he must be...removable femurs?

Lucky, if she wants to date you make sure she signs a pre-nup. If she knows you'll give up the Pachis, your goose is cooked.

I'm afraid the real me is starting to show. My sense of humor is extremely off color and sooner or later...you know...
