Default Candy Dispenser turned Ball Dispenser

I picked up a new (to me) item for my arcade life tonight. It is a free to use or coin-less candy dispenser with four separate slots and it lights up. A cool looking item that I'm thinking of using as a pachinko ball dispenser. The weight of the balls in the picture binds up the turning mechanisms somewhat so I won't fill it any further yet. A bit of testing and engineering thinking is needed!

This stands 54" tall and is 15" wide by 16" deep and very light weight when empty. There is some nice pin striping on the sides with a storage area on the right side. The top lifts up for loading and the complete inner shell lifts out for cleaning, etc. It still needs a little cleaning and lights to be checked but I think this was a good find on Craig's List only an hour after being posted yesterday.

I have often wanted to modify a gumball machine of a few different styles but the prices always put a hold on that. This was about the same cost if not less than most gumball types in my area so it was an easy decision to make.

The candy or balls in this case look like they bind up in the mech as the cylinder edge turns toward the compartment wall. It eventually turns by rocking the turn knob back and forth but this would cause damage in time. This is even with the smallest amount of balls loaded. I'll see if a cylinder will come out for a better look. This would be cool to dispense tokens as well but that sounds like a tough one to accomplish. The dividers also come out which is nice for cleaning.

well the easy answer is a piece of metal bent at a 90.. make it wide enough to span over the center and rest on the rolled edges.. make it short enough so balls and flow around the front and the rear. the metal will disperse the load to the sides, the gaps in the front and back will allow balls to flow..

that's a good idea, i have this item also, i fill with candy and nuts, i also have a popcorn machine version, which doesn't work very well, but I could put balls in that one. They have similar plastic as pachinkos, so makes room look better
