    Default identify machines

    Hey all,

I have the chance to get a couple of newer machines for a relatively low price. I am not sure if they work or how old they are. The seller sent me some pictures. Can you all give me an approximate idea of how old these are?

I have a newgin in the same frame. It's a bit hard to find newgin info, but it's from somewhere in the 90s, and is an "early" modern. It is cr ready, but I never bothered with a dongle for it.

Looks like one of the Lupin III models and a Cinderella. No idea of the year, but probably sometime in the 90s. I am sure someone will be along with more specific info.

I believe the Newgin Cinderella one is from 1999.. Looks like it came in three versions.. That one (EX2) looks to be one of the two non CR versions.. Here's the name.. なにわのシンデレラEX2

The Heiwa is a Lupin the Third machine from 1998 I think and is one of 5 versions and is also non CR I believe.. ルパン三世V

My only experience so far is with vintage machines. The CR conversion is not necessary to play therm correct? Is $50 a good price not knowing if they are working? If they do not work what sort of challenges are there to fixing them?

They are cash versions. A CR conversion isn't possible, or necessary. If you can get them to work, $50 is a great price. If not, $50 for two doorstops isn't that great. Parts will be next to impossible to find. If it's an electronics problem, the cost could be prohibitive, and not worth fixing.

I would want to see them working before I spent the money, but that's me.

    Good luck!
    Gotta catch 'em all Pa-chink-o

    Ikaria,

Thanks, this is about what I expected. The seller has no idea if they work they were decoration at some restaurant and then have lived in her garage so she has no idea if they work. I don't think I am going to risk it.

I'm not seeing any transformers on them, they run on 24VAC. I'd be sure they didn't just hook them up to 120 wall power before buying, that can fry a thing or two....

The seller says she has a transformer, I suppose could take some balls and try them. I presume the wires trailing down on the right are the where i connect the transformer leads? Where is a release to get my balls out if they are indeed paperweights.

Yes, the leads go to a 24v transformer. The Lupin machine looks like it has a dump you can trigger with a paper clip from the front. Both should also have dumps usually somewhere between the top and midway down the right side of the rear of the machine. Sometimes it is under a cover and not real obvious. Other times they are clearly marked with a dab of bright colored paint to help owners find them.
