Default Nishijin Bowling Model ~1972 - How to turn on?

Hello Gentleman - I've got a '72 or '73 Blue Sea Aoi Umi "Bowling" powered pachinko machine. Or so I think (label on rear is marred)... She's hooked up to 10V DC now. Fuse is good. One blb burnt out.

How do I turn this machine on? 30 mins of Youtube videos failed to deliver the answer. All guides read the machine doesn't need power - it's a recyclable, I believe it doesnt.

Are there any safety or power interlocks that interrupt power? There's no bulbs lighting up. The first bulb socket is live, but it dies from there.

If there are any guides for a recyling model you can point me to that would help as well.

Thanks in advance!nishijin pachinko machine front.jpg

well I don't know about recyclable without seeing the back.
Maybe the question is, what are you expecting the machine to do. But doesn't do.

There are nurmerous mechanical safety devices put in place to prevent jams, these can stop the shooter working or prevent payouts.

    Welcome to Pachitalk

    take a look at this

    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/show...-Model-A-Video

    see if that helps ya

Ya dont really "turn it on" they work with or without power.. some machine have power adds that add to the playablity of the machine but most all vintage machines do not need any power what so ever to play.. the power for your machine lights the lights, will work just fine without powewr at all

The machine doesn't "power up". It is gravity operated. The only things that require power are the bulbs. One for payout indication, and one (or two) for low ball indication. From your picture, the machine is a 'A' type that does send played balls into the payout bin.

Load some balls in the front upper tray and the back upper tray which should fill the back lower tray and start shooting.

Cool machine, one of my favorites. And welcome.

Welcome to Pachitalk. If the responses so far haven’t answered your question it would be good to answer Drunkenclam’s question so we know exactly what you believe isn’t working. I am located down the peninsula from you in San Jose. If you can’t get things going on your own I’d be happy to make the drive up on a weekend and help you try to get it running and answer any questions you still have.

Looks like the shooter lever wire on the wrong side of the plastic ball loader.

Are you referring to a metal wire rather than an electric one (insulated)? How can the balls shoot with such force with no power?

    Hey

There's a big spring behind the large green part at the bottom. On a lot of games I've had, there's a piece of Japanese newspaper from the 70's inside as a dampener.

I think he was saying the metal wire on the shooter arm should be on the right side of the clear plastic pin (forgive my MSPaint attempt )

You are missing the tension spring that connects to the ball launcher. When you push down on the lever in the front and release, the lever should spring back up and the balls will get a good smack to send them onto the playfield. All without power.

    Correct.

Spring looks to be there, just on the lowest setting. There is a metal tab with holes in it hooked on a nail. Try adjusting it a few holes up to add more spring tension.

I can see it's there, but it's only on the second hole of the tension adjuster

Your too fast for me Tink!

Well, we're fiddling with the machine right now. Now bulbs and voila! she lights up in various places.

We are wondering what the gizmo inside the large gray plastic housing near the base of the unit. It looks like some sort of electric motor is hidden inside... but we don't see any wires leading to that unit. Confusing us further is some background reading we did, on units that are so-called "Recyclers", suggesting perhaps that the unit self-reloads somehow...??? Are all of these Nishijin units purely gravity- and manually- powered/actuated?

Thanks to all for the fast and fascinating pointers!
