Default Different colored balls for bonus points?

I think it would be fun to have just a few bright yellow or red balls among the 700 in my machine. Players who win these colorful balls would get some kind of bonus. Bowling alleys do this on Red Pin Night.

What is the size of a pachinko ball and is it likely a marble would work if I find the right size?

Just found these gold pachinko balls on ebay. One buyer complained that they weren't pachinko balls because they aren't marked but he does say they are the right size and I don't care about the markings. Gold would be great for my idea.

I went ahead and ordered them.

You can buy coloured pachinko balls, I believe some parlours did use them for special events, new machine launches, etc (modern pachinko)

I think I have a bag of teal ones and bag of gold ones stored away in the Pachi Treasure Cupboard from years ago, never used them though and can't remember if it was in case the coating came off in the machine with long term use or maybe I was just too lazy to go find them

    Well to answer one question

    11mm diameter
5.5 grams per ball (Weight will be important on vintage machines)

The gold ones are real pachinko balls. The steel the balls are made from makes them 'springy-er' so they bounce more in the playfield.

I have about 1% of gold balls mixed in with all the others. It does add a fun mix for visitors, especially the kids. I also have a few gold tokens that moved randomly among my pachislo machines.

The gold balls I bought years ago have now tarnished to a dull gold/silver. Very hard to tell them apart after a while, as they just look like really dirty standard balls.

I'd say your bonus points should be based on a certain engraving on a ball instead. Makes people have to look to get their bonus points.

Got the gold balls in the mail today. They are very nice and exactly as advertised. For my ageing eyes it's not as easy to distinguish them from the silver as I had hoped.

Just think if there was a way for the machine to distinguish one ball from another (say some kind of embedded chip) so that when you fired that ball into a specific pocket, something special would happen (kind of like how the games play in Pachinko Sexy Reaction).
