Default My First Pachinko Machine and a Question or Two

    Hi

I just wanted to say Hi, and say I'm the new owner of a Sanyo Comet II Pachinko Machine. I have wanted to get a pachinko machine for years now, and when this one came up for sale on CL for $25 yesterday, I jumped on it and got lucky. It does seem to be in good condition with just two little broken pieces, no wires to the toggle switches, and a small missing dangling part "see picture 8". I'm in the proses of cleaning it up and getting everything to work again. When I tried to play the machine nothing seemend to work, and after taking the dirty, dusty, dust covers off I found out why, someone had tried to use steel ballbearings that where to big to fit in the system, they were jammed into 4 diffrent spots. After removing the steel bearings it seems to work pritty good now.

First question: where can I get the little dangling thing that is missing, and what is it called?

Second question: I want to replace the plexie glass with real glass but I'm not sure what type of glass to get?

Here are some pictures of my machine.

    Welcome to Pachitalk

the parts your missing can be two parts sometimes.. im sure we have a few members that can offer you the part... I call it a wiper or knock down weights...

as for the glass any will do plexi needs to be thicker cause it will bend and deflect... glass wont so what ever they have in stock will work..

Here are some pictures of my machine.
1/8" thick glass from Ace Hardware is what I get.

I like your machine because it has 5 tulips.

It would be common to see screws in the locations circled in your picture 7 and a screw with a washer in your picture 8. Holds the reward tray to the machine a little tighter.
Not a big deal to leave as it is.

Mopar is correct on the dangling piece!
Helps keep the reward balls from piling up at the top ramp. Shouldn't really be an issue either. It's most noticeable when the reward tray is filled.

    Hi

Thanks for the pic's, I think I might be able to make that now that I know what it looks like. One thing though does anyone know if there is some kind of a weight inside of it?

    Hi

How do I go about getting a switch that is not stiff. I got some switches off of eBay to replace the jack pot switch but there is a problem with them, the springs inside the switches is way too stiff to replace the jack pot switch with.

The jackpot switch is usually a leaf switch on the Comet II. The low reward tray has a "low force" microswitch. I usually buy long lever, low force microswitches, as the levers can be trimmed to length.
Something like Honeywell V7-3E17D8-148. That is 8 grams of force, 4g is better but it's difficult to find in stock.
It's trial and error for package size and force required. It may take you a few purchases to find a microswitch that fits your needs.

The last time I purchased microswitches, I bought obsolete switches from digikey and bought the last 25 they had in stock. I still have a handful left.

Are you sure you are looking for the jackpot switch? In your picture 6, on the right side of the picture, about half way up, directly above the red thumb screw, the light blue jackpot switch is visible behind the plastic dust cover. It is a leaf switch.

    Hi

Here is what it looks like from the other side. I guess I could solder the wires to what is left of the switch.

AJ, you can definitely use a low force microswitch to replace the leaf switch, it involves soldering wires and probably drilling new mounting holes, adding spacers, etc.

The plastic on the original leaf switch is melted a little to hold the leafs in. I use a razor blade to cut the plastic, solder the wires to the leafs and remelt the plastic a little to repair them.
To be frank, it's easier, for me, to use a new microswitch and a lot more reliable.

This picture shows a jackpot microswitch (with long lever bent and trimmed) on a Comet II, CHECK your wiring on something like this, you probably would want a new jackpot switch to be wired normally open.
Don't blindly follow this picture without testing your wiring setup, prior to soldering.

I buy Omron micro switches from Mouser Electronics when I need them.

Here is how I wired up my 1976 Comet II. No soldering, works perfectly.

    Hi

Do you think this one will work, I can get them locally. I also have a question for CarlW about his Three Ocean machine, are you using a arduino to control the jackpot lights?

Magic Mike's switch is about 16 grams operating force and the Grainger switch is about 20 grams.
Trial and error is only real test. The switches I'm using are about 4 grams.

Yes, I like to use Arduinos to control lights.

    Hi

The mouser electronics specs was messing up my search for the switch, they had one set of spec and everyone else had a different set of specs.
