    RK,
You should ask Milt how he got into it, he will be willing to share the story with ya! We asked on our first trip up there, and he told us how he got into it. Much like all of us, buy a machine get addicted , sell to friends buy more, run a mail order business out of the basement, find a guy with a successful business, wanting to retire, buy him out, warehouse, contacts, and stock.
But of course Milt tells it much better

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

Dude, yes--that IS a BÖC avatar. It's not my favorite album, but I love the cover art. Buck Dharma lives on the Gulf coast of Floor a duh, and he's got his own keyboard player. I told him I could play that stuff, but he never calls.

I was thinking of starting a thread on this topic but seeing as this is a hobby board, I knew this had to exist so I'm reviving it since there are a lot of new people and I want to tell my story sorry...

I first got into pachinko in 1998 in Japan where I worked and lived at the time. Like most people who don't play, I thought it looked pretty stupid: a bunch of people in a zombie-like state smoking their guts out and shooting balls around a metal case. But then I thought that I basically do the same thing playing video games so why not give it a try. So, I ask a sort of "pachipro" friend of mine to go to a parlor with me and teach me the ropes. The first machine I ever played was:

    koumonchama1[1].gif

Heiwa's Koumonchama, based on the historical Japanese figure, Mito Koumon. I remember this very well because I remember I kept thinking the character was supposed to be Santa Claus. Good job... That day I won 30000 yen and have been hooked since. I am primarily a pachinko player and it was only until maybe 2001 that I started playing slots. At the time, my job was dead for half of my shift so I spent lots of time reading, studying, working out probability calculations, training myself to read pins, data, whatever to get that "edge".

I think you guys know me as a player as I don't have a lot of technical skill or knowledge and I don't even own a machine (have lots of simulators though) so I will list my "achievements"(?) in my playing history - like a trip down memory lane of an obsessed pachinker I said trip, not kick:

    Career winnings: roughly US$22,500.00
    Largest single win: $2,400.00
    Largest single loss: $800
    Highest consecutive bonus chain: 26
Number of parlors in which I'm still listed on leader board: 2
Number of times skipped work to play: 2
Played pachinko at least once every day in 2001. Even dragged myself out of a sick bed and went down to my local parlor, played 500 yen, then went home and passed out on my bed again.

    *sigh* I miss playing.
    Player, not collector. ドルドル箱yo~~~!

I had American Slots for 30+ years, than found Pachislots on "the bay", than joined the dark hole across the tracks. Tulsa and David brought me to the "light side". Tulsa forced me to buy a pachinko. and than I found my true love. I must have been a "Nail Bender" in a past life.
Pachinko takes away all the pressures of the work a day world and compresses it into a 11MM sphere. Open your window and run softly your finger tips across the Nails you will see what I mean.
A Pachinko in every home, we would fight less and be so much happier.
So I am going to run for President.

went to a river boat casino last year and kept going and going. finally got tired of loosing money and wanted the fun in my own home. Found out later that I could get into some deep doo doo if I was caught with one in my home. So, I was surfing ebay one day and decided to check out slot machine for ol time sake and I can't remember who it was but one of the sellers had pachitalk .com in their ad, and I have been here ever since.

I heard that Rod Evans put out a solo album a few years back, in the style of Captain Beyond. Haven't heard it, maybe I should.
    .

We, of the Captain Beyound fan club, the best one being "the Myopic Void", which itself has bitten the dust, again, have searched the world over for word of Rod.
He seems to have given it up & gone straight. The most consistant rumor is that he dropped in & became a pharmacutical drug sales rep. Kinda ironic, aye!?
Im not sure if I can believe the solo album rumor as there have been so many people looking for him who have not found him & there was never a report of any solo project among our very curious members. Dont mean it aint so, tho!!! But if there had been & there was more than 5 copies pressed, Im fairly confident that someone would have at least heard of it.
Members of our little C.B. club even met/knew Bobby Caldwell & Rhino ( Larry G. ) & they didnt know where Rod was either. When they tried to make the C.B. comeback they put out the word for Rod to join only to never hear from him.
Rod, youre the true voice of the Captain!!!

Default Re: how I'd you get into pachinko/pachislo?

My parents bought me a pachinko when I was a kid. It was neat but as kids do I got board with it and it was probably sold on one of my mothers rummage sales. The a little over a year ago a coworker said they had seen slot machines for 100.00 at a local place so I decided to check them out. I learned they were from japan and I remembered my old pachinko so I bought one for150.00. It was a basic three wheel Azteca. I started looking up on the computer about pachislo and pachinko and found the old way and got hooked talking to a great bunch of people. The Azteca got boring real fast and decided I had to pick my machine better and the board helped me allot. When we jumped the burning ship and Pachi talk was formed the wold of pachislo and pachinko got so much better. I have about 23 machines and three pachinko with a new room being built to house them. I try to never miss a day coming to the board. The day is not right if you haven't checked out pachitalk at least once a day! This has changed my life for the better.I can't say just how much this board has made my life better and how much I appreciate it!

I blame the user Mamemaster for introducing me to this hobby,
His reviews of his 2 pachislo (tekken , metal slug) machines on Retroblast.com had me hooked. I wanted one and bad...
then in my search I came across pachitalk.com through one of 777heavens ebay ads.
i am now addicted, i want more pachislos, i want at least 1 pachinko. and if i dont visit this site on a daily basis and read all the new posts i go nutty...
    what can i do...

Smile Re: How'd you get into pachinko/pachislo?

    Let's see...

I had always wondered what pachinko was all about. I new it was Japanese and it had lots of little metal balls.

I remember watching a movie that partly took place in Japan and when there was a chase scene where they ran trough a pachinko parlor I asked my brother what it was and I remember him saying something like "it's a mindless game they play in japan" and something about metal balls.

Since then I always wanted to know more about it. The only times I remember seeing anything about pachinko (pre access to the internet) was some pics of pachinko sims and controllers in video game mags (all that did was confuse me more 'shooting balls with a big knob?') and more people running through parlors in movies.

So a few years ago I was on ebay trying to think of something to look for and I thought of pachinko and I found a bunch of cool looking pachinkos, some vintage which I could understand how they worked and some super cool ones with video and them weird knobs, and since I have always loved pinball and plinko type things and since they all seemed pretty inexpensive I knew I wanted one.

Fast forward to the beginning of this year, I had about $150 I wanted to spend on something other than bills or my store for a change.
I finally decided to buy an old discontinued hand held video game and a bunch of games, I'm not really sure why but thats what I decided.

At the same time I was playing Super Mario Sunshine and I still wasn't sure if I wanted to waste my money on another game system, so I got to the small level where you have to shoot Mario up into pachinko machine to collect coins and it hit me that I should buy a pachinko instead of the game system.

So later that night I started my search for my first pachinko, after checking ebay and finding several stores I decided to buy a 'war ducks' from GR Warehouse but after several days I got an email that said they didn't have any left.

So I ended up getting a Whales pachinko on ebay from TA.

Sometime during all this I saw a link, I think at Stealth, to PachiTalk.
Since when I decide to like something I obsess over it and try to learn everything I can about it I thought it was awesome to find a pachinko forum, but when I got here, since there were no posts, I thought maybe this place was abandoned. But I signed up hoping I just needed password to bring this pachi paradise to life. I waited and waited but no response or password so I emailed some Tulsa person and in no time I had access to this wonderful place, and after a little while here I found a bonus Pachislo.
