Red face Why a Battle Counter?

Could the answer be "Why Not?"

I just realized that many members have these...and I am not sure why. What does owning and connecting a battle counter do for a pachinko game to make it more fun? Is it like owning an authenitc pachinko stool? It does "nothing" but looks cool?

I am not sure what a battle counters purpose is in the casino to be honest but I know it is tied into the game somehow. Just curious why people want them in their houses too...or just for that "authentic feel".

battle counters here In parlors display certain statistics on the machine like how many spins since the last bonus, how many bonuses have been hit in a day, how many spins during the entire day, how many balls won in a day, the odds of spins/bonuses. It also displays if the player is on their break time and things like that. They are also used to call parlor staff to your machine Incase of full tray or any mechanical issues or even to order a drink from the cafe!

My answers: Just because I could, For the added light show, And of course Why Not!!

I had an opportunity to get a couple and have been curious about them for a long time. Also there is the wiring challenge and satisfaction of completion as a newbie to them. A work in progress that may spill over to my pachislos.

Heck, I've got battle counters, over aisle lights, end aisle lights, rotating beacons with sounds, rotating beacons with extra flashy lights.

But just to be clear. There is no benefit being at home to using one of these? It doesn’t really enhance your game plan?

In a parlor setting it may help you choose which machine you want to play based on the data displayed. At home there is no play advantage to having that data. It’s fun to watch the additional light show matched to your machines light show, it looks cool, and if you are someone that likes numbers and statistics, it’s fun to look at the data at the end of your session to see how many spins, how many balls won, etc.

No. But it's a nice being able to see the stats. That how I know my Cutie Honey once went 961 start pocket hits (reel spins) between jackpots/ootari/fevers.

But then again. All my counters are synced together and connected to aisle lights too.

Like the others have said the stats can be of interest along with the light show. It may not enhance the game play but more so the experience all around. Just like having the Daverob dongles, ball lifters and even parlor trays. Is this when a hobby turns towards an addiction?

The answer to the question why!
Because we are all slightly mad.
Last week i bought myself a Yo Yo, something i haven't owned since 1967.
Why? Because it had flashy lights on it that's why.
The only other person to ask the question Why was my wife.
And the answer she got was "You look very nice today dear"

I make my own battle counter to keep score of wins versus shots.
Can play against other people, if desired.
Play best score in a given number of shots or play best score in a given amount of time.

My guests seem most interested in: (order of preference):
    liquor
    bubble hockey
    pinball
    pachinko

Sounds like you should host a pachinko party CarlW! I think there are enough of us within reach to move "pachinko" up to at least #2 on your list.

seems like a good Ad for PT!

I myself seem to stockpile pretty shiny things, I tell myself it's because I'm a crafter and need them for my work,

but the truth is, they are shiny!! they are pretty!! and most hardly ever end up in projects as i just need to own and admire the pretty shiny sparkly flashy things.

So yeah I have one Battle Counter set up on my wall mount Star Wars (and another 3 or 4 in the Pachi treasure cupboard)
I don't need to understand the stats, I just admire the pretty flashy light show, ohhhh pretties!!

I have been toying around with the battlecounter idea for a while now. As you may already know...I love vintage machines! You know...the older, the better; more metal, less plastic; flipper vs knob...the list goes on and on! However, I do have 3 modens...and an early modern. Which, I don't think a battlecounter can be hooked up to...but, I think it has the "cn1, cn2, etc" conectors on the back. ANYHOW!!! There is a $70 battlecounter on eBay right now...with $30 shipping, making it a $100 battlecounter. Not afraid to say that, because I'm sure that everyone reading this, already knows about that! My thing is...$100! I could get another vintage for that! However, I like the idea of an extra light show. Probably it's mostly about the light show. I like the idea about the stats...but they mostly wouldn't matter to me...I'm not a numbers kinda guy.
One of my moderns is an aeripachi...and I don't know if that makes a difference in the world of battlecounters. http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/show...hlight=penguin
I haven't bought...only because, there are always OTHER "things" grabbing at your money! and...because...as stated above...it does not really ADD to home play...but we WANT one anyhow!
I have had 1 or more on my "watch" list for over a year now.

Holy Cow Carl!!! Amazing game space, my friend!!

I was totally looking at some "Grand Lizards" the other day online (no fooling)...may I ask how much fun it is? Obviously you like it or you wouldnt own one.

I own a Simpsons pinball party from stern (now in storage up in MA) and I have to say the novelty of those games wears off quickly for me. And at the pinball price tag I paid for it, it makes me leery about buying another one so soon. I am seriously thinking about purchasing a hyperpin or virtua pinball game. I know it isnt "the same" but at least I have more variety and it will feel almost similar...and MOST importantly...I wont lose interest so soon in the game. Does your Lizard collect more dust now that you have had it a while? I watched a video on it online the other night SCARY sound effects!!

Don't you own slots & pachi also? I didnt see any...

Nice set up. Carl. Thanks for sharing. I miss having a basement. One of the small drawbacks to living where I do in California.

Nice...how convincing is it? Does it have force feed-back etc?

I mean you gotta know its a screen...right?

I heard they were made with 3D TV's for a while though...that may have been cool.

I also wonder if like the ones that are available on the app store will work...can you add new tables to it? And where would one do that? PM if easier...

There is a Star Wars Pinball app on the app store I love and I know I would LOVE it if they would work on that unit!
