On the blue seven is "ア" a as in アオイ - aoi - blue.
On the hat "ボ" bo as in ボウシ - boushi - hat
On the cactus is "サ" sa as in サボテン - saboten - cactus
On the replay symbol is "リ" ri as in リプレイ - ripurei - replay

How do I type in the Japanese characters? I wanted to save some of this and word only puts little boxes for them.

If you're using Microsoft Windows there's some kind of IME (Input Method Editor) that can be downloaded. I don't remember how to do it exactly. It works well for Hiragana and Katakana.
