Default Should I replace reset with a switch?

Hi I have a Sammy "Kamen/Masked Rider V3" Machine from 1999. It has an E1 error on it and I don't have the reset key. The reset thing is on a board up in the top left, not in the power supply. It has a silver lever that doesnt stay in its position (like a spring) and a lock next to it. Is it still ok to replace the lock with a switch, or should I go looking for hours on end trying to find the right key? THANKS!

As long as its a simple 2 wire open/closed key switch then I don't see a problem
