    Default My Newest Addition

I have a new find from a Craigslist seller that I got for $40 and a two hour round trip drive this weekend. They advertised it as Umbrella Man but I also see it as Parasol Man on youtube. Looking a bit deeper into the name I come up with National Association GPA.

It needs the usual cleaning and came with a dozen balls. From what I can tell it is working alright but there are two questionable items that may or may not need attention. The first picture has a yellow wire just hanging which I don’t see what or where it attaches to on the left end, if it even should anywhere. The second picture is of the ball payout mechanism. There are 3 upper and 3 lower white plastic pieces. The three upper ones look like they had the ends broken off. In some videos these appear to be hooks to serve an unknown purpose to me so far.

Here are a couple videos form other members with the same cell in different frames.

not 100% sure but ill make a guess from memory

the wire is the same as any vintage.. if the bottom hopper over fills and backs up with balls a plunger will push the wire and shut the shooter off so balls wont shoot..

the second pics is if the hopper is empty the fingers swing down/ up and provide a place for the hooks of the jackpot mech to hang on causing the jackpot not to reset and stopping play until the top hopper is refilled...

now i could be wrong on both.. so please feel free to correct me.. its been a few years since i played this generation of machine..

Absolutely correct on both counts. The "wire" seems to be bent down, probably to deactivate it's intended purpose.

I have a Thunder Dragon machine in the same frame! It has a single speaker in the upper ball tray. When you open the tray/door in the normal fashon...you will find a 3 position volume switch inside. I remember something about the payout cartridge being "finiky about its placement. Looking through the pics I posted...I can't say about the hooks. Here is a link to my machine, which might speed up the learning curve on yours. http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/show...thunder+dragon If you think something is wrong, take a pic of your problem part...and I'll show you what mine looks like.

My wire: Your wire: I think the screw that has the yellow paint adjusts the sensitivity of the ground ring on the shooter.

Pachiwall, did you just tell Peteybob "If you show me yours, I will show you mine?"

Thank you all for the tips and information, this has been most helpful.

Thanks pachiwall for the link as this has improved my learning curve about this model.

I did find that one of the three payout tracks had something stuck in the track preventing the balls to freely roll thru and that the 7/15 payout cartridge needed some adjusting to properly work. Other than a good cleaning, this machine seems to work well! I've given it a few hours of play today with it paying out well as it progressed thru the winning rounds.

I like how the whole back comes off with quick release clamps. However...due to the wiring, there is nothing quick about it.

Yes it looks like a little strategy is needed

This was listed on eBay with 10 balls and on Craigslist with 5 balls, both at $50 obo. They had it at a small resale shop in Lansing MI about 60 miles from me.

I guess I took the 5 ball option being I told them that I saw it on CL. A bunch more fell out in my trunk as I laid it down

I originally offered them $35 thru eBay sight unseen two weeks prior but they countered with $45. So Friday I figured that $40 should work being that they still had it.
