You could be right about that, but it looks like if a bulb socket was in that hole, it might interfere with the action. Even if that was the case, I'm still trying to figure out why 2 switches were used instead of 1. Maybe the center lights and the center, and side lights are supposed to alternate?

I have a machine with the 3 switches. You can put a light in the payout and then the right side light will flash a moment before the center payout light on wins.

Ok, well I put an LED in the hole. It does not block the action, win balls and payouts do not hit the light, they don't even come close. Tink must be right.

The other 3 incandescent bulbs that came with the machine don't fit in the hole; it's too small. So there must have been another, smaller light that went in there at some point.

I will wire it all up today or tomorrow and see what happens.

    Thanks to everyone who answered.

One other thing, separate topic, is the tulip in the center supposed to open and close? Mine is always open and there doesn't seem to be any mechanism to close it. I can close it with my fingers, the sides are on hinges but it just pops open again. Am I missing a piece? When closed the closed tulips block two win holes. I feel as though the edges should close and a ball dropped straight down the top should open it like with the other ones.

    Thanks again.

Perhaps a ball has to go in each of the other holes to close it? If they're moveable, they should close.

Seems some of the large center tulips are always open. Had a Sanyo with similar center tulip.

I just noticed that when a ball goes into the big center tulip it closes around the ball before it drops it down a chute. It doesn't serve any mechanical purpose, it may just be for visual effect.

I haven't been playing with it all that much, I have been preoccupied with cleaning and repairing the machine. Plus it is hard to play with because it tilts backwards and to the right and the balls get stuck in some places; it doesn't sit right on the table that I have it on and I am afraid it is going to tip over. It only has one leg holding it up. I am going to build a cabinet for it later.

Finally got the 3d Printer working again.

Printed off the track cover. The little 2nd piece broke while I was trying to get the raft off so I will have to make another one. (Printer probably needs to be leveled)

Thanks to mxfaiman for posting the thingiverse file.

ABS plastic, 20% infill, about 45 minutes for both pieces. .78 cents worth of plastic. Ain't the future great!

    Looks good.

Now thinking about it I don't believe the thingiverse files are even my latest update. I made some changes to the slider part. (made it slightly thicker.)

Here is where you can get the new file.

Also I might be a tad late with this. But here are the typical wiring diagrams for Nishijin B machines.

Yep there is supposed to be a bulb in the middle.

Thanks for the updated file also. I will print the piece for completeness but the cover sits on there pretty tight without it.
