Default Motor Behind Modern Pachinko Machine Not Running.

Hello, I'm the one who started the last thread on here about my Sonic the Hedgehog Pachinko Machine that I acquired and had issues with the ball handle not working until Peteybob was kind enough to help me out.

Unfortunately after playing with it this weekend now I have another problem. The motor on the back of the machine stopped running where it helps the balls drop down to the top front tray. I'm not sure what part you call it or how it stopped running. I know before I got the part to make the ball handle, I would turn on the pachinko machine and hear this motor on the back of it working and making a sound every second. If I'm right it helped make the balls drop to the top front tray from the tray on the back of it. I mean sure I could just put the balls in the front but I'm ornery to make sure all the pieces work right on it. Is this an easy or do I need to replace it somehow? Ball motor.jpg

That is the payout motor which should pay balls to the front tray when you hit a pay pocket. In the photo there are no balls in the track to the payout motor. The machine cannot pay out without balls to the payout. Is there an obstruction or did you possibly close off the track with the ball blocker?

If it's been in storage of a while. It's possible the ball path is clogged with fluff. Preventing balls from flowing down to the motor

As Drunkenclam mentioned, check he ball path; it appears from the picture that the balls aren't making it to the motor.

There is a ball blocker on the top of it but it's open. There was fluff in the path in the path but eventually as I poured the balls in the reward hooper it took out the fluff along with them in the front tray. Some of it may have clogged it inside where I can't see it. Here's a bigger detailed photo of the back side and two close up photos. I'm trying to think how to take it apart without damaging it.IMG_3125.JPGIMG_3126.JPGIMG_3127.JPG

The hopper and ball tracks look empty in these pictures. When you fill it up fully do any more balls move and to the front or back of the machine.

Also, was the front tray already empty or full when this problem came up?

No, when I fill the hopper and ball tracks now the balls stay in place without moving to the front tray of the machine.

If memory serves me right, the front tray was full as balls were still moving toward the front while my friend was playing with it by turning the handle while I filled it more in the back only when the front was running out of balls.

Here you go. This is from one scoop of balls into the reward hooper down the path. Do you need photos from the front as well?1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg

What activates the Micro switch above the motor? Near the grounding wire.

You know, I never even knew that was a switch at all. I tried it, it releases all the balls from the reward hooper down the path and out the bottom of the back of machine. After that I messed with the machine again to check something. I should've known it's called the "reward hooper" for a reason. I dropped a ball down the jackpot hole within the machine to start the animation and it dropped 4 pachinko balls from the reward hooper. Guess I still have a lot to learn in terms of pachinko gameplay and how these mechanisms work huh? Guess that solves that problem for me now that I think I figured it out.

Before I close this thread, are there any tips you guys think I should know about or to keep in mind?

I dozed off after my questions but sounds like you got this one all sorted out Seems like the machine was catching up with prior reward balls and was complete when you noticed that the motor had stopped running.

My tip is to ask anything anytime because it is how we learn about each machine, both you and anyone else. We all started out somewhere different in this crazy hobby.

I do have one last question I happened to find these on my machine. What does this little white button do that's next to the power switch? I pressed it and I don't think anything has happened. Also there is this switch around the middle of the machine where it's barricaded. I'm not sure what that does either. Any ideas? button.jpgswitch.jpg

    Glad you've got it sorted,

Here are the usual links to pachinko, just in case you haven't seen them:

The little white button is a reset switch on the power supply. You would hold it in, turn on the power, and hold it for about ten seconds. This clears some errors out of the machine. Some cells (the interchangeable play fields between same brands/eras which is inserted into the framework) have their own reset switch as well as the frame.

The slide switch is for the volume control. Most go from loud, louder, and to ear splitting! Newer machines have a better setup with a broader range of control.

It turns out that I have a similar machine frame being my Popeye. I thought that payout motor pic looked familiar. Just don't press the big red button if you find it!!

Got it. Thanks for the links hanabi. That link with the translations helped a lot. Most of it I figured out through gameplay but the rest I didn't know at all so that came in handy.

Peteybob, good to know about the white button then in case the machine does goof up for some reason in the future. Also, nice seeing there is a slide switch for the volume control. I turned it to the lowest setting as I could so that I can still hear it without making too much noise even with the door closed in my game room. Now I'm eager to try and fix up the wires inside both upper speakers now that I found the volume control. I didn't see any big "red" button so I don't where or what you're talking about exactly. XD

I think that's all the information I could need. Time to close this thread. Thanks guys.
