Default Cranky Condor ('96) stop board help

    Hello all.
i just purchased a '96 Crank Condor from Craigslist. This is my first slot machine purchase. After dealing with a few loose IDE(?) cables, I got it up and running with the exception of the skill stop buttons. Reading through the forum, I'd like to thank those of you that helped me make sense of the inner working of the machine.
I realized that the 1amp fuse on the stop board was blown. I had a couple of fuses laying around, and unfortunately 5amp fuses. I tried them, and they blew out immediately.
Seeing as how there is no such thing as an electronics store in my state (RI) anymore, I tried a couple of car parts stores with no luck.
I ordered the proper fuses online and expect them on tomorrow.
    But here is my concern, your thoughts and advice are appreciated;
I'm concerned that a 1A fuse will just blow out immediately if a 5A did.
Does anyone have experience with this? If it does blow out, what do you suppose is causing it to blow out?
All caps on the stop board seem to be in good condition.
The reels will stop once they time out. But waiting one minute every spin proves to be not fun at all! Lol.
    Any insight is appreciated.
Oh, and "Hi, I'm new here"

Hello Wingnut and welcome to the group

I don't have any fuse trouble knowledge but it sound like a possible short elsewhere? Is there an additional tiny board added onto the stop board. There are automatic stop boards of this nature. If so then remove that to rule it out. Also check the boards on the door around the stop buttons for the same.

Hi, thank you for your reply.
I removed the button assembly and everything seems ok there.
The connectors, cables, and visible boards don't seem to have anything wrong at this point.
I guess I'm at a standstill until the fuses come in. I can only hope for the best.

It seems if the 5's blow then your new 1's will also. Others should be along throughout the weekend and hopefully some good insight will be shared.

Exactly. With any luck, they were .5's and I just couldn't see the decimal point stamped on the fuse.

That would be SWEET. As Peteybob stated "possible short elsewhere". I have very little electronic knowledge...but there is definately a short of some kind somewhere. Knowing what the fuse protects would be a plus! Since hese are Japanese gambling machines, there are no known schematics avaliable. I well imagine the manufacturers keep them a well guarded secret. The fact that the reels time out is a good clue that the stop board MAY be the culpret...but of course may not. I don't know how to electrically check any electronics, but a close visual inspection of the stop board and its components would be a good start. Also unplug and look into each connector socket for bent pins. If a pin on a connector was bent over and touching another pin...that would be a short. If you could find an identical stop board from a parts machine (oe eBay, or pachiparts.com) then swapping it out would be a good test for those of us who can't properly test them. Seems like the worst that could happen is wasting money if it still blows fuses. At that point...seems safe to say that the stop board was not the problem...what would the chances of 2 boards having the same problem. But that is just me guessing.
Hopefully someone smarter than me will offer some better advise. And, of course...to Pachitalk!

From my understanding, if the fuse "blows" on the stop board, one or more of the 4 components I have circled in yellow, needs replaced.

They won't be marked as 0.5A they will be marked as 500 mA

    Excellent! Thank you.
I did check them visually. None of them appear blown. I have yet to check with my VOM. I'll dive in deeper if the first fuse pops.
I'm expecting the fuses in today.

    Update: fuse popped immediately.
Time to replace the components as suggested by Wayne-Ooo.
    To be continued....

Wayne-Ooo you are the man!! I replaced 2 caps and one diode (according to you picture, the bottom 3).
Works like a charm! Thank you all for your help.
In the meantime, I bought a fully-functional Monte Carlo machine. I couldn't help myself.
