    Default Help for a newbie...

    Hey there,

I am new to pachinko and I'm planning on ordering machines for my house. Upon looking at the ones they are selling they have no back and, from the looks of it, seem very unstable. I can't imagine them full of balls with that weight not being top-heavy.

So my question is: what is everyone doing to make these playable on a table etc, if you don't have the place to mount them into an actual wall?

    thanks

easiest way is wooden feet. this of course can be as pretty or as simple as you wish to make them..

Walmart? A special order item? DIY? Where are people getting the "feet"? Would anyone send a photo?

So I hit reply below, go the the photo icon (top of text box) select a file from my phone or computer (it then shows the file name next to the "Upload File" button), then try to click "upload" and I get an error message that lists the photo file name and the says, "upload of file failed".

If you image file is too large. It might cause a problem.

Any how. I put mine in cabinets. Fixed top and bottom.
This is only good if you have a way of replenishing the balls.
As Sid said. For ease You can just screw 2 lengths of wood about a foot long to the underside. I used to also then put a cross piece at the back between the two to level out the rear for putting a container on to catch the balls.

Thanks yes I don't have the space to install cabinets specifically for these. But I may be able to pick up some 2 x 4's and create a small base. Is there a good vendor for the boxes to catch the balls in the back?

Household tuperware boxes are good. Doesn't have to be fancy. about 8-10in long, 2-4 in deep and 4-6in accross.
just have a browse around your diy store or homestore. (or what ever they are called in the US )

Actually, that is something you can get at Walmart.

You can go with smaller wood size if you want to. I used some nice 1" x 4" x 4 foot long pine from Lowe's home center that only cost around $3. For my latest and heaviest machine I cut two foot long legs and a cross member for the back about 22" wide. I used some 1-5/8 wood screws to assemble everything.

    pachinko feet1.jpgpachinko feet2.jpg

For collecting balls in the rear I happened to have a few of these bins around. They fit just right for my machines with the extra board in back over the feet and leveling off the area. They can be found in home centers and all over the web but some sellers only do case lots online. I have one for each machine and actual ball trays from Japan to use out front.

Hey Petey. What are "ball trays"? Where can I find those? Also, is 500 enough balls to play one pachinko? Or are more really needed?

The ball trays are what are used in the parlors in Japan, good for pachinko balls and pachislo tokens. I have a bunch for use in front of my machines and keeping a bit of the real parlor mood in my game room. I have a few pictures in my photo albums and am starting to sell some extras if you are interested. (I know, a shameless plug! ) Others are around like on http://www.clovercollectables.com/, eBay, and other sites. I got mine direct from Japan.

As for number of balls 500 is pretty thin for a modern machine but okay on the vintage ones. The newer machines will hold 300 +/- in the rear hopper and you can shoot a couple hundred pretty fast. You can play with only 500 but you will be shuffling them often especially as the action heats up. Depending on what you can afford I would go with 2000 or at least 1000. Pachinko Pagoda has better prices with higher quantities for new or used balls. Also keep an eye out for any local private sellers for a better price.

That's not saying that you need that many per machine if you end up with several. Just move them around to the machine(s) in play at the time if you want to.

Thanks! Petey, I may be interested in purchasing a few!

would you throw in some extra tokens and balls? Lol

most machines come with 500 balls or 500 tokens. My question is, is that really enough to play? I hate having to open my pachislo machine or pachinko unit to get more balls/tokens from inside. ( sorry my computer cut off your reply and answer to this part of the question).

Not really...1000 minimum, 1500 better, 2000 ideally. I think the 500 is so you can start playing " out of the box", of course you will need to buy more.

Considering the average pachinko machine jackpot is 15x8 over 15 rounds. That 1800 balls. Then if you hit a fever. That sometimes may happen 10-20 times in a row. Pushing it to 18,000 to 36,000 balls.

That's a lot of ball shuffling and refilling

    (Remember these are gambling machines.)
